September 15, 200916 yr What am I doing wrong? I realised that in the J41, I can't recieve on one radio while also transmitting on the other radio. Did I miss something here? Isn't this feature available on 95% of all addons out there as well as almost all of the stock FSX aircraft? On the J41 com panel, I can see the recieve/volume knobs under com 1 and com 2, but they don't seem to do anything. I can recieve on the VOR, ADF, MKR etc, but no dice with the com radios. Any chance you guys can add that in in the next SP?It's doable, but an inconvinience to have to switch off from the vatsim controller just to pick up atis..JB Buzz313th
September 15, 200916 yr I'm not sure about the JS41 panel, have to check. On many panels you can only listen on COM that is MIC selected unless you have a split comm function and that is generally a separate button. In reality it is not a problem in the JS41 because it requires a crew of two, and there are two audio panels. Also in real world, I always ask ATC to leave to check wx and they always approve with the request that I check back in when back on frequency. Dan Downs KCRP

Every modern radio stack that I've seen with more than one nav/com also had an audio panel (Which I believe is necessary for the stack to work) which has recieve/ident buttons to allow you to recieve. Instead of having to tell ATC youl will be right back, why don't you just tune com2 to your other freq and just recieve on 2? That way your not buggin ATC and your not leaving the controllers freq. Also, what happens when you have to talk to the flight service station and transmit on one freq but recieve on another? It's also probably not sucha great idea to be leaving ATC to check atis when your IMC and the town is busy, although depending on ATC's workload they will probably give you atis anyway knowing you have your hands full on an IMC aproach...I would bet the cost of 10 J41's that the aircraft has the recieve function on the audio panel, as well as the fact that the volume knob/selector switch is sitting riight under the mic selector for com 1 and 2.. Bottomline, it would be nice if we had that feature.ThanksJB Buzz313th
September 16, 200916 yr Bottomline, it would be nice if we had that feature.Second that.By the way, this plane is great for VATSIM/IVAO flying. The lack of an autothrottle and the icing effects help keep you really busy on arrival and approach, and the slow speed compared to the jets most online pilots seem to prefer makes it challenge to the approach controllers to fit you in with everything else. They will also expect you to keep your speed up as much as possible ("No speed restrictions for you, sir" as the VATSIM LSZH approach controller politely told me last night), so you will have to wait until the last possible minute before slowing to landing speeds, yet still be able to make the landing.Highly recommended! I can recieve on the VOR, ADF, MKR etc, but no dice with the com radios. If you look closely you can see the VHF volume knobs turn when you press one of the mic buttons. You cannot directly turn either knob, but pressing the button for mic 2 causes volume knob 1 to turn ccw while knob 2 turns cw. Apparently this automated coupling is intentional on PMDGs part but does render it impossible to listen to both com channels - I second the request that something be done to fix this.Mitchell
September 16, 200916 yr Author This is fixed and will be part of SP1.Thanks Henning, good to hear...Have a good un... Great plane by the wayJB Buzz313th
