September 18, 200916 yr Its suppose to rain in Salt Lake City on Sunday so I think it will be a good day to spend getting acquainted with A2A's J3 Cub. In the spirit of the aircraft, I'd like some thoughts on good grass field, backcountry and smaller type airports that might be fun to fly at.I use to fly a "Cubbie" (experimental built version of the J3) back in the 80s. There was a tiny grass strip just south of Wilmington, DE airport. The runway was about 1,500 feet and it was great fun flying into and out of that little strip in the Cubbie. I just looked at SkyVector.com and it looks like that airport is no longer there. Ugh! Gotta love the real estate developers out east! So I need some new ideas...Any suggestions for fun small airports to start off in the A2A J3???Thanks
September 18, 200916 yr Hi Doug, one of my favourite is Hutchie's Field in Queensland, Australia. Pavel
September 18, 200916 yr Unless it's got to be in the US, why not download the 300+ fantastic Australian small airfields at www.aussiex.org ?You will find nothing better for the Cub, and the quality of the airfields is awesome - some are payware standard. If it has to be in the US, can't help as I don't fly there.David.
September 18, 200916 yr It's not a grass strip, but a dirt one and it's a fun airport especially if you have MegasceneryEarth for the area - Bicycle Lake (KBYS) in the Death Valley of SoCal. -Scotty
September 18, 200916 yr The humble Pavel forgot to mention his own Idaho scenery, which I find to be perfect for the old Cub. There's some very challenging strips in the mountains of Idaho that can challenge the most seasoned simmer. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher

September 18, 200916 yr Thanks, guys :( You can download it from flightsim.com library. Search for Sulphur Creek Ranch Airstrip.Pavel
September 18, 200916 yr There are some nice private strips near Springfield, Oregon. I also like Savage Island in Vermont. However, a tricked-out Cub can land and take off anywhwere. I remember seeing an old picture of a woman who landed her Cub on of the fairways at the Banff Springs Golf Course, shot the hole with her friends, and then took off on the same fairway. There's also a fellow who specializes in ESTOL (E for Extreme) in a Cub. He lands on beaches, sand spits in rivers, large rocks, whatever. I'm going to make the efforrt to look these sources up, and if the Simulation Gods are smiling on me, I will share their stories with you if I can. You could also choose the A2A Cub to attempt the Loopy Larry Mission!Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

I've been in and out of there with the default scenery, and though it lacks the sloped runway it's quite a challenge. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
