False TAT temperature indication with PMDG MD-11

Featured Replies

And last thing :) - When I am in flight and TAT is 40 (because I use FsInn button "CAVOK" and no need to download something, just button CAVOK!) and load default boeing 747, than his panel show as well this false TAT...

And absolute last thing....http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=20466":.........................Weather Bug in FSInn/FSX (affects Speeds, Temperatures, and Climb [above FL245])

  • This is an issue with FSX/Simconnect/weather. When flying at high altitudes (above FL245) there's a miscommunication between FSX and FSInn concerning the temperature. This TAT problem isn't experienced when flying below FL245.The resolution is to turn off FSInn's weather when flying above FL245 and use an alternate such as FSX's weather. There are two ways.
    • Turn the weather off by default (Inn Control Panel -> Set -> Weather [Check/Uncheck]). With this option You will in effect use whatever alternate weather you already have in effect with Flight Simulator.
    • Or (what I consider preferred) turn it off or on on-the-fly by clicking the CAVOK bottom to turn FSInn's Weather off or clicking the VATSIM cloud to turn it on. When you turn FSInn's weather off, use FSX's download real weather +15 minute option. To resume FSInn's VATSIM weather, just click on the cloud next to VATSIM..............

I also have this problem. It seems to be happening more frequently than before. At cruise, the SAT will go to +15C and TAT will be around +40C. It will normally correct itself within a minute or so.I can usually reproduce by clicking Refresh on the ASA screen or by exiting and reloading ASA while a flight is active. For reference I am running FSX Acceleration, PMDG MD-11. The problem occurs with or without FSUIPC.Hope this can be fixed because it is very frustrating! Thanks,Christian

I really hope we do not get sidetracked with all this FSINN information as a few of us have already stated we do not use VATSIM or FSINN... That sounds like a known issue with a workaround but what about those of us not using FSINN and seeing this behavior ONLY with ASA... What information can we provide because unlike the cloud popping which is merely an annoyance this is a total show stopper to me if it can not be fixed. Again, for me it is FS9 with ASA over WideFS and nothing else...Thanks,-Paul

HiBefore I say anything I must point out that I only installed ASA a couple of days ago, so I

Hey,I managed to fix the temperature problem, as well as the low visibility and clouds at FL3xx+, on my computer -- I went to my User-defined weather without loading up ASA on the Free Flight screen and went to the Advanced Weather page. I found that on my temp/pressure tab there were hundreds of temperature layers, and each layer was set to 59 degrees F (even all the way up to 60,000 feet, if I remember correctly) . This was saved into my default flight so I deleted every single layer under clouds, winds, temp/pressure, and visibility, and loaded up a new flight and saved it as default. I have flown, since then, around 40 hours in the LDS 767 and PMDG MD-11 combined and have had no problems of abnormal temperatures; I assumed ASA was reverting back to the defaults flight weather which somehow got corrupted and written like that. I'd advise everyone just to take a look at their temp/pressure tab under advanced weather after loading up FSX, but I don't know if this is the reason for all the temperature inversions people are having -- I thought I'd share this just in case it works for a few people for it fixed my problem.

This bloody TAT temp issue happens often to me flying Wilco Abus Series 1 and 2 too.It seems that almost every add on plane is concerned, must be caused by something else then.... Nick

I don't know if u guys still support AS6.5, but I'm having the same problem with my PMDG 747 running on fs9, the TAT went very extreme (+50c to -100c). I didn't check this problem with any default aircraft but there's no problem if I don't use weather update (use default weather) from AS. So........ is it global warming, or the weather update problem?

Hi,I have posted in this discussion when necessary.1. Only some users experience this.2. It may be with only 2-3 planes.3. It happens with default FS weather according to the thread posted in the PMDG Forum awhile back.4. It is on our SP list, but I am not sure what the final outcome will be.Thanks,

Thanks for looking at it, I appreciate it and I'm sure others do too.I would like to make a couple of comments though.1. Only some users experience this. It's an intermittent problem and it took me a while to notice that the loss of engine power was associated with the unrealistically high TAT. So we may be just the ones that have had the problem and - crucially - realised what's causing it.2. It may be with only 2-3 planes. The planes involved are the ones which are sophisticated enough to model engine management properly, otherwise you wouldn't notice it. Being at the top end of the market (PMDG, Level D), their owners are exactly the sort or users who buy Active Sky. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that a good majority of the people who buy Active Sky have a PMDG or Level D aircraft too. 3. It happens with default FS weather according to the thread posted in the PMDG Forum awhile back.I can't say on that one, I use ActiveSky. Like most, I guess I use it for two reasons: firstly and obviously for more sophisticated weather processing & display and secondly to iron out some of the faults in default weather e.g. wind fluctuations at altitude.

Hi,i have the same Problem... A few minutest ago i was just crusing on 37000ft with the standard 737 of FSX and the TAT switched from -25 (or less i can't remember) to +40. At the same time my Speed switched from 300 to 160 and after that it decreased slowly to 135 (STALL) N1 was at 91%. This same scenario also happens with the PMDG 747-400. I'm using FSX on Windows7 Professional. I hope we can find the failure, so we can sleep better :(Andy

I have been having this very problem as well. At first I had no idea why I would sometimes lack of sufficient power in either my PMDG MD-11 or Level-D 767, but then I also the shifts in TAT. It struck me that it (almost) always changes into to the same value of +40C and not really any other positive value. It is extremely annoying and I have been experiencing it in every flight lately. I have not tested it with FS real world weather but I will somewhere this week.Hope this problem will eventually be solved :)

Best regards,

Hi,i had the same problem again but this time i have a little workaround before you get into STALL:If the TAT switches from -32

Hi All,When researching whether to invest in ASX, I came across this thread and had some concerns. I went ahead an purchased the product and on my very first flight using it last night, the exact problem occurred. Climbing out of the high FL200's the stock A321 I was flying lost all thrust, and eventually stalled. Quite disappointing to say the least.I am going to do some experimenting today to see if I can reproduce it, but I know the representative with HiFi wanted feedback on whether this happens with FSX default aircraft, and it does.TB
