J41 Cockpit door

A BIG THANK YOU to PMDG for the great turboprop! My favourite MD-11 is rusting in the hangar since I've got my hand on J41.All great (I'm sure there will be patch release to fix all the minor bugs), however I would like to know if there is any chance to have the cockpit door interacting (open/close)?Since the cabin is modeled with passengers inside I wonder why this option is not included.Cheers!

Does the door actually open?Best regards,Robin.

If you try to open it, it says something like "you can't get through" and then there's some butthead-esque laughter. (Google "Beavis and Butthead" if thre reference doesn't travel the pond well.)I actually think its kind of funny.

Martin,I think it's because the cabin isn't part of the VC. Try going through the door and you'll see the cabin isn't there. I'm not sure if that makes it part of the exterior model or what, but that's probably why the door doesn't open.

It's kinda my understanding (and correct me if I am wrong), that there are two 3d models. One is the external model and the other is the VC. When you swicth from the VC to the external model or visa versa, your computer stops rendering one model and starts rendering the other. Each model has "X" amount of resources (textures and polys). Too many resources being rendered and the computer performance starts to dwindle. Most developers will make a decision based on whats the most important aspect of each model. And the details that arent important will be saved to boost performance. So, if the VC was attached to a portion of the external model, then you would get less performance due to more polys and textures being rendered.. Or if the cockpit area of the external model had the same detail as the VC then you would see a much bigger hit on computer performance. The reason it's left out is a design decision based on what the priorities are...JB
