Can you install FSX on D Drive?

Featured Replies

Hello i was wondering if I can install fsx on my d drive because im running out of space on my c drive and my d drive has all free space and that is like 700 GB and i was wondering if i could install it PLease help!!! :(

Yes - no problem at all. During the installation define the path you want to install FSX on and away it will go. I've installed it on D, E, F and G drives.-Dai
Ok thank you very much and I will do that tonight lol(: :(

And for heaven's sake, use a short path, such as:D:\FSX

And for heaven's sake, use a short path, such as:D:\FSX
...and use an advanced defrag utility such as Ultimate Defrag to specify that folder on the fastest part of the drive. It will make a substantial difference to loading times. Also, it's worth repeating that some FSX folders can literally be ANYWHERE on your computer, allowing you extra flexibility in locating and sharing disk space - I have my FSX folder on my F: drive, but the `addon scenery` folder rests on a different drive entirely. So you could `share` the installation between the two drives, which is especially useful if your C: and D; drives are bodily separate hardware.

or, if you have other folders already on your (D) drive then use a folder name like D:\aFSX (note the "a") which ensures that your FSX installation is the first folder at the root of your (D) drive. Then use the O&O Name defrag which writes the files on your HDD in alphabetical order thereby ensuring that your FSX installation is on the fastest part of the drive.

The latest O&O defrag (#12) has the facility to place folders and files on the outer/middle/inner zones of the partition.

I actually have it on my F drive, so yes it's possible.

I do what I believe is right, not what is popular.

I always wondered this too because it never gives me the option of choosing a path in the install routine. It just installs where it wants and never asks me where...

Another path is possible obviously but it has been such a long time ago that I can't remember how it is done .Perhaps when it offers the default path you just overtype it. I'm sure another member will be able to give exact details.

You need to chose the Custom Install Option.
