October 13, 200916 yr Mark, I noticed in your cfg file that you hadTEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400I have read several posts that state this original setting is way to high and probably s/b more like 70 - 90. You might find some additional resources if you adjust it downward. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
October 13, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks Ray, 400 is the setting advised by Christian Buchner, the author of the software. ( BTW, did you read the manual, its got masses of really good information in it, he does not however explain WHY he recommends these settings, which is a bit frustrating) Lower values are definitely correct for "normal" FSX with conventional textures and autogen, but I have found that if you are using photoscenery only, ( such as TileProxy) and if you have a good enough hardware setup ie fast hard drives, properly configured, then a high value will help in ensuring quick loading of textures. However, you will find that all these variable interact to a greater or lesser degree with each other and there are thousands of possible combinations of settings. The capability of your computer is also a factor as what works on one, will not necessarily work on another. If you read back on this forum you will find people reporting all sorts of different settings and saying how well they work. The bottom line is you have to spend lots of time carefully adjusting and testing to find the right combination of values for you and your machine that works.I have to say , if you read my last post in the thread "a few questions", you will see that I am currently using a setting of 40 myself and have not noticed much difference. This is definitely not the case when using conventional photoscenery, a value of 400 really helped my set up there, but just with Tile Proxy, which I think is a much more complicated beast.Cheers, Mark
October 13, 200916 yr > Christian, you are a genius Sir!! After all the frustraing days of trying to get it right, I am so happy!!!Despite being a genius, I did not win the underhanded C contest 2008 (results are out now). I am still trying ;)

The idea to greatly reduce the 400 to 70 - 90 comes initially from the guys at FSX Insider, and then others. I will try to find the article. But, it is also in this months (Oct/Nov) edition of Computer Pilot Magazine in the article on Frames Rates. They actually recommend setting the Texture_Bandwith_Mult=40.Yes, I have read the manual, several times. October 13, 200916 yr Hello,Mark After reading some of your posts as well as GMAN,s and some others,I installed TileProxy and after 2 days got it to work...Really not too well,though..Would you be so kind and post your latest and best .ini and .cfg files for me???.....Running an i7 920 @3.9G, 6G ram,GTX285SC,P6T Deluxe V2,TRUE....Thank you....Lou C172P N97674 PPL SEL Complex High Performance
October 14, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Ray, I think you missed 2 important points here, those comments were made by Phil in 2007 and relate only to normal FSX. Photoscenery and Tile Proxy behave differently. Secondly, as I said, you have to find what works best for your particular hardware and software set up. I posted what works for me, if helps you, then great, if not, then what have you lost by trying?Cheers, Mark

What settings have you tried? Also read back through some of the other threads, as there is so much imformation there as well. Bottom line I think is that what works for one may not for another, as it depends a lot on your particular hardware/ software set up.If you dont mind spending some time experimenting I am sure we can get you running nicely. cheers, Mark

Heck, the graphics cards themselves are probably 10x faster now than 2 years ago, with all else being equal. I see that Christian checks on this thread now and then. If anyone gets too far off base, maybe he will step in with some details. Tileproxy sure is fun to work with. I might start a chart to see how much I age while waiting for the system to load. I may be able to convince my wife I need a faster system so I don't age so fast. Duh. I bet we are all missing some good maps by not having Google maps available. My neighborhood is about 4 -5 years out of date. I can identify major features that are dated no later than August 2005, others back to 2003/4.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
October 15, 200916 yr Hey guys, I just posted a couple of screenshots of New Orleans to compare TileProxy to MegaSceneryEarth - Louisiana here.http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...p;#entry1651665 When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

I will start a new thread so as to not hi-jack yours....Thanks Lou C172P N97674 PPL SEL Complex High Performance
October 15, 200916 yr I haven't looked back over this whole post, so it could have already been covered, but grainy could be a mip map problem. Try some different mipmap settings in your fsx.cfgI think default is 6 (or thats what Tileproxy sets it to). Try 5 in the first instance, though it may become blurry.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

October 16, 200916 yr Hey team, I just started getting black flashes only in the water. We have inland water and offshore water and the rolling black flashes are in both. I snapped off one picture and went back thru my recent changes to both the fsx.cfg and the Proxyuser.ini and I can't get rid of it. The land part looks fine but the water has a problem. Anyone seen this or have any suggestions? I will post the relevant parts of the ini file tomorrow. Thanks. RayM. I am uploading a small snapshot but I have a history of all my screenshot being deleted. Maybe someone will see it and recognize the problem before it is deleted. Thanks. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
