October 7, 200916 yr I use a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 to control the Reality XP GNS530 WAAS when flying in FSX.Unfortunately due to dodgy design, the middle mouse button is really hard to press accurately. Is there anyway, without installing the Intellipoint software, that I can configure the side button to function as the middle mouse button?I can do this, for example, in Crysis, in the game menu. Thanks for any ideas,Toby Ryzen 5800X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, Windows 11Link to my: Dynamic Flight Dispatch Tool
October 7, 200916 yr You can try this free program to configure your mouse buttons. It works really well for me.http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm "Even Ozzy's wagging his tail again. Liam who?"
October 7, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the tip. That works great but I would prefer something that doesn't run in the background, if that's possible. Ryzen 5800X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, Windows 11Link to my: Dynamic Flight Dispatch Tool
October 7, 200916 yr Commercial Member First, something has to run 'in the background'... be it the actual mouse driver that allows configuration or a third party application that runs 'on top' of the mouse driver. Something has to see the button press and interpret it correctly.Second, what's the issue with using the intellipoint driver? I use it without issue on my system. October 8, 200916 yr Ahhh, doesn't the Mouse properties option in the Control Panel do what you want?

This is a what a driver does, the more sophisticated the driver the bigger that driver will be. FSX doesn't appear to have the same mouse flexibility as Crysis probably due to its other duties. Your options seem to be limited to finding a driver to do what you want (which will require loading), acquiring another mouse or fixing the mouse you have.
