Video card upgrade

Just an update on this issue.I down loaded ddfix1.3.11 and tried to install it, but I got the following message 'DDFIXGUI.EXE must be run from the same directory as Thief.exe, Thief2.exe,or Shock2.exe'.Maybe you computer whizz-kids can come up with a work-around for this one :( Stuart

Since the old forum links are broken maybe another upload is warranted? I didn't pay enough attention last time this was being discussed since my FU III looked great as it was. The mention of "Thief" and the tweaking of the *exe meant little to me -- I knew nothing about "Thief" and was only interested if FU III could be enhanced from great-looking to excellent. Then there was mention of crashes and disabled functions and I figured "if it ain't broke don't fix it".Well, now it is broken and I'm determined to find out why. I'll even switch to another card if that what it takes even though everything else (sims included) works fine.I looked at my broken cockpit again. As I switch views the right stuff shows for a split second and then I get the black rectangles obscuring the lower and middle parts of the view. It seems to be an escalated recs problem as the glitch we fixed with the one pixel overlap. The anomalies correlate with recs definitions of every cockpit view it affects. A good question might be, what exactly was the computational reason for the need to implement the one pixel overlap? If we understand exactly why Nvidia cards required this fix we may understand what's going on now. It's definitely connected to the recs definitions.

Hans / Agtim,Thanks for advice re driver cleaners.Hans,I am puzzled as to why the cockpit displays in the aircraft I mentioned earlier in the thread are still garbled, as my display problems are identical to yours. Is the fact that they are all add-on aircraft significant ?I have every confidence that you will find a solution, so at your suggestion here are my system specs:Intel Dual core 1.86GHZWindows XP SP3Direct X 9Nvidia 8400 GS [ Nhancer installed]182.08 driverGood luck and I eagerly await your next update. :( Stuart

Hi, I will create a new forum tread with a short tutorial on ddfix.it was uploaded in the forum on august 2008 but now its away.I will create a permanent tutorial entry with permanent pictures, hope to do it today. The source of ddfix is available also, so we can even take modification to it.Since August 08 I just used it as is and it work fine even with map control. For screen shots you must use PrtSc-Key and not Ctr-Alt-P.more later...Andre

I for one will be very grateful for the tutorial Agtim.I thought it would be worth sharing my Nhancer settings for FU3 - these give me perfect graphics with the aircraft I mentioned previously - other than a CTD a couple of seconds after landing any aircraft there are no problems.Comb -16xs,Aniso- 16x,Vert Sync -off,Quality,Tri -on,Neg Lod Bias -Clamp,Force DTX3 -off.Interestingly, I use the same settings for FU2 and get superb graphics with intact 2D cockpits, and yet it is an older game [ ?].Regards..........Stuart

Rename it if so.Good luck

Hi Hans,I notice that the people who are not having problems all seem to be using Windows XP not Vista. Is it possible to pop another hard drive into your system and run XP up, see if it solves the problem?CheersBruce H(Oz)

I've got two 500 GB drives so a dual boot set-up should be feasible. However, before going to that extreme it would be nice to know whether Vista is really the problem. Provided Stuart (htfc) is running FU III under XP that would indicate that Nvidia is the culprit rather than the OS.

Hans,I suffered from a similar panel problem when I installed FU3 on my new Vista64 powered PC.
