FS9 'crashes' near Seattle

Hi Devin and Joe,Firstly, thanks for analysing that file Devin. It's a pity that the file that is expecting those BMPs isn't identified. I could just delete that and all would be okay.Anyway, I have some encouraging news. I take both your points about missing files causing crashes but this is only happening in one part of the world so I'm guessing it has to be files that are only used when in that specific area.Using the UT Configuration utility I deselected all the options and opened my test flight. This places the aircraft right in the middle of that area. After 30 seconds it hadn't crashed. Good! But with all the options I had enabled yesterday it was crashing so I think it's one of those options that's causing the problem.I'm working my way through each in turn until I get the crash. I'll then report back but also alert Flight1 to the problem and see what they say.More later.

Nailed it!!! :( I know what's causing it but not how to resolve it. But maybe Flight 1 will.In the UT Configuration utility there's an option to Enhance Streams. If I enabled it FS9 locks up at 58% when trying to load my test flight. I double-checked by unticking it and it loaded okay. Now I need to report it to Fight1 and see what they say. Thanks everyone. I still have these missing BMPs but they don't appear to be the cause of this particular problem. All that knowledge is safely stored away though. When I hear from Flight1 I'll let you know.

Please search any and all active scenery folders for RAS_*.bgl. Start with addon scenery\scenery.Bear Gulch is not compatible with UT. It would make sense that you would not experience your issue with UT turned off.Do you have the RealAir Scout package? If you do not, then those files should not be in your setup. Those are the only files that would call those RAS_*.bmp textures.Lest you think you can use the Bear Gulch files from VOZ, some where included, not all.Best of luck,Joe

I'll do that but the problem is not UT being enabled but Enhance Streams being enabled.

No.

I'll check for those BGLs but I was speaking to Pete Dowson earlier and he said that in his experience FS will not crash because of missing BMPs. Those areas affected will just be blank. That makes sense. But I'll let you know if I find any RAS files.

Glad to see it Ray!! I agree with you too, I wish that the offending file (the BGL) that is calling for those textures would be identified also. It would make it slightly easier to track down. But, I'm no programmer... :(

Neither am I according to my boss but I have different ideas! :( It shouldn't be beyond the capabilities of someone with the knowledge and desire to read every BGL and ensure any associated files are present. Maybe we could get lucky and that person is reading this thread! :(
