October 16, 200916 yr Hi,I sometimes have an overstress condition. All parameters are under maximum permitted. (speed torque EGT temp etc). I have had that overstress alarm few minutes ago.I was flying in icing wx conditions, all anti ice switches were turned on. Do i keep parameters too close of the maximum permitted. Thanks and regards.L'maire Real Deraps
October 16, 200916 yr What was you indicated airspeed? I've had the JS4100 overstress at about 252 knots IAS and all the parameters were running well below max. Once it hits the red warning band on the airspeed tape it's just about too late.Don Bohr Don Bohr
October 16, 200916 yr I usually try to give myself 20kts worth of play in my speed. Cause flying at the limit I have found if you get one of the famous FSX wind shifts it will send it far into the red causing an overstress condition. The aircraft has a lot of power especially at low weights and does not require the max power to fly at max speed. I set my power by TGT and keep it on the white line. That has always worked for me, but everyone will have different requirements as to what they want from the aircraft. October 16, 200916 yr Due to wind shifts in some weather addons you can inadvertently over stress the aircraft even when running well within the limits. I suggest turning off this feature of FSX.Mark. Mark CYYZ
October 16, 200916 yr Due to wind shifts in some weather addons you can inadvertently over stress the aircraft even when running well within the limits. I suggest turning off this feature of FSX.2.It is in no way realistic to to "crash" just because you slightly overspeed. Turn this "feature" off, and enjoy.

Why couldn't MSFS have modeled this better. I think it says "aircraft damages on overstressed" which sounds perfectly reasonable. Maybe something bends or stops working right or whatever, but unless you fly directly into the middle of a thunderstorm, you're unlikely in real life to fall out of the sky just for overspeeding or making too steep a turn or whatever. The JS41 has the realistic engine fire for overheating them, allowing you to at least try to save your bacon on an emergency descent. If MS had developed it, the sim would just end then wire a green bar that says "FIRE!" Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
October 16, 200916 yr You know for future reference you fly the plane at 170kts all the time. Steven Penninck
October 16, 200916 yr Author Hi,Many thanks for your advises, my IAS was about 240kts but i agree that the only way to get rid of this is to turn the "overstress or damage to the aircraft feature" off. I out for the weekend but when back home, i'll just turn it off. Thanks again and best regardsL'maire Real Deraps
