FS9 Frameskipping

Featured Replies

Hey guys,Last time I spoke to you was about my microstutter problem in FS9 about 2 months ago. Back then I was running Windows 7 64bit and was unable to solve the frameskipping. Now I am using Windows XP 32bit and experiencing the same issues, however I believe I may have an idea to the source of the stutters.Firstly my specs are as follows:Intel Core2Quad Q9550 (stock)XFX HD4890 1gb G Skill 4gig RamGigabyte MOtherboard EP 41 UD3LWindows XP 32bit Service pack 3FS924" ViewsonicOK so, a fresh install with no addons works very well, no stutters whatsoever. Last night I installed the PMDG 744 as the first addon and i found stutters ( When i say stutters i mean high frame rates but frame skipping) in the default KSEA. I then installed Aerosoft's EDDF, and found when I used a default aircraft i had stutters. I also found if either only the sky is in view or only the aiport is in view or only the aircraft is in view, it runs smooth in Spot mode. Does that make sense? So the stutters only appear when there is alot of visual processing to do... (ie when both the airport and surrounding scenery is in view in cockpit mode, that same view on spot view is worse) But my computer should have no problems handling the processes, as at one point i had everything working super SMOOTH on my 3 year old computer with a E7200 and a 9600GT 512mb with alot of addons, and then after a reinstall i had the stutters appear, and prompted me to buy my new rig - which is giving the same problem. The question is, why isnt my computer able to properly process FS9 properly with the addons? What is preventing it? keeping in mind that my framerates are relatively high.I am so over this issue, i am willing to pay someone to fix it!!! Thanks a lot, Any responses are greatly appreciated!!Deven

contact fs-gs they should fix it.
Thats for bringing them to my attention, ill check them out,but please still open for suggestions...just by looking on thier site and forum it seems that it is going to be difficult to get in contact with them...

Tell you the true, its just one of those FS9 problems no one seems to get rid of. I've had those stutters on and off for years now, with multiple system. On and off means some reinstalls didn't have them and didn't develop them, while others have them right away or develop them later. I've tried to fix/single out the problem with no definite success. I also have an alright system with 40+ FPS, yet get them from time to time. Some where explained it as velcro on the plane when trying to turn while taxing.

You say you've got high frame rates, but are you setting a max frame rate?Even a low frame rate can appear smooth provided frames aren't drapped. Without limiting, the graphics engine tries to process as many frames as it can and occasionally 'misses' one, and the result looks far worse than low frame rates. Actual FPS are not important so long as you're happy the look. Try setting the max frame rate down till the stutters go.Dave

This has been discussed many many times and I do not agree with you. 25FPS is not smooth by any means, esp that I'm using TrackIR and hardware. This isn't about that. I have my FPS locked at 60fps as that is my refresh rate. What is being discussed here has nothing to do with FPS as it appears when set to 20FPS and 60 FPS, if conditions are right.

Setting virtual memory to "Let System Manage" solved this type of problem for me. (with 2GB RAM)Alex Reid

Deven:You have a pretty decent rig there to getting many stutters. Can you post your FS9.CFG file and do you use nhancer? It's got to be something simple with a rig like yours.Thanks.Paul.

I build, tweak and sell custom rigs on the side so just wanted to point out two things.. Using a 1Gig videocard on a 32 bit system with FS9 is not a good idea, you would be better off going back to Win7 64 bit or downgrading to a 512mb card. When you installed the card under XP & Win7 did you use the same out of the box drivers? Every system is unique, a large part of the tweaking process is finding the best drivers that work on your system, the latest is not necessarily the best, have a look here for drivers http://www.omegadrivers.net/I have helped people who have the same problem as you and 90% of the time it was either a faulty memory module or the drivers on there system.RegardsRob

Hi Rob,I used different drivers for Windows 7 and XP, and i only went to XP 32 to try it out... the thing is ive had this problem on to seperate rigs with 2 different types of memory and motherboards, so i dont think its a faulty memory module as ive tried 2 different types out?
