October 21, 200916 yr I bought AS6.5 for FS9 a few years ago, since then I have switched to a different weather engine and I'm using FSX (I not going to advertise in your forms of course) I use widefs for fsx, I still have AS6.5 on my machine, I recently started using it again, my intentions were just to use it for getting winds aloft data. I was not expecting it to connect to fsx and load the weather into it. Im not sure why or how this works but it is flawless. I have tested it 10 times, I'll start a flight in a certain location, clear all weather, start widefs, then start AS6.5, my location will appear in the AS6.5, then it loads the weather perfectly into fsx. So why is a product for fs9 working with a product for fsx? with an interface (widefs) that is for fsx???

All this time I had it sitting right there and never thought of using it, until the other day. It is great especially when flying the MD11 all the winds aloft data right there infront of you. So simple and basic, its great.
October 21, 200916 yr I had no idea it worked for fsx,Yes I used to use ASv6.5 with FSX all the time. I am 99.9% sure that when FSX first came out, ASV6.5 was the latest version...so yes it worked and many people used it for a while until ASX came out. If so I will look into purchasing 6.5. Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. Aorus 650 Elite V2.0/32GB GSkill Trident 6000-CL30/Nvidia 1080 Ti./Seasonic Focus 1200W PSU.
October 27, 200916 yr So...are you guys saying that it AS 6.5 handles wind shifts and visibility, including transitions, better than either ASX or ASA in FSX?No!! At least not on my machine. ASv6.5 still had wind shifts on my machine. I don't recall vis being a problem. It's been a long time since I ran FSX + ASv6.5.Are you also using FSUIPC?No. For my setup only ASA with the latest service pack solved the wind shifts. I do not use FSUIPC to control winds at all anymore. I think I would get ASA before ASv6.5. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since ASv6.5 was the latest, in terms of our understanding of how FSX operates (with respect to the winds, SimConnect, etc.) and ASA seems to handle it a lot better.
