October 31, 200916 yr Hello. I'm hoping someone can answer this for me.I have found that I have two scenery.cfg files for FS9.#1 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9This one has a modified date of 10/11/09#2 UserProfile\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9This one has a modified date of 9/8/09In looking at what's inside it appears that the one in the main FS9 folder contains more entries and is probably the correct one. However, where might have this other one come from and why would the modified date be so recent?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The one in my FS9 folder is dated 05/13/09. No idea why the dates are so far apart.
October 31, 200916 yr The Application Data folder also functions as a back up of sorts. If you delete FS the App folder is not deleted. Anyway, not to worry about two cfg files.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
October 31, 200916 yr Author Not serving as a very good backup if the data inside is not the same.Oh well, thanks for the info.
October 31, 200916 yr That's interesting because I don't have one. I don't have any other scenery.cfg files anywhere on my system other then backup files I manage myself with my custom scenery.cfg editor.I wonder then if that backup file is created when you use the scenery manager in the FS9 interface. I don't use the FS9 built in manager, haven't since I wrote my own a while ago.Mark

November 1, 200916 yr Not serving as a very good backup if the data inside is not the same.Oh well, thanks for the info.True, but you'll notice that there is a copy of your aircraft folder, also. This FS9 folder is not deleted if you uninstall FS9. When you reinstall FS you, you have the same aircraft you had at uninstall.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
November 1, 200916 yr Opa, because the MS Version is cumbersome to use. It takes for ever to move anything. So if you want to move a layer from #10 to #150...how many times do you have to click to get it moved? With mine it's click or cut/paste, renumber...done :)Mark

November 1, 200916 yr True, but you'll notice that there is a copy of your aircraft folder, also. This FS9 folder is not deleted if you uninstall FS9. When you reinstall FS you, you have the same aircraft you had at uninstall.BobWhile there is a folder named "Aircraft" in the Ap Data folder, it doesn't contain the aircraft. The only thing I have found there is folders full of state.cfg files, which keep track of things like accumulated hours for the Hobbs meter. So while it is true this folder will not be removed by the FS uninstall routine, you will not retain all of your aircraft if you uninstall-reinstall.That process will present you with the default aircraft only, retaining the hours you had before the uninstall, but not all of your addons complete. At least that's how it is in my install, using XP.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
November 1, 200916 yr Hey Opa, glad that someone likes that interface...I didn't even know you can use those keys...duh! But...what happens when you decide that you would like to move 85 entries from New Zealand below the current 20 entries that you have for your global terrain mesh. Then the 150 or so entries for Canada need to be shifted above the global terrain mesh? Now that might be a bit harder using the built-in manager, at least as far as I know. It takes about a minute to complete the edit with my tool...renumbered, layered, and ready to go. MarkSorry if I've hijacked this thread...didn't do it on purpose...apologies in advance...
