December 3, 200916 yr Commercial Member Does anyone know what's up with Alphasim and the VC for the C-17 ? Eric
December 6, 200916 yr Hi.There is an un-official a/s forum around, just google alphasim unoficial forum and you will find it.However, I am somewhat dismayed that over 60 days on from release, people have paid $60 for an external model with a sound set. the panel is a freeware type from ages ago.Aparently the 2D or VC will be released sometime in the first quarter of next year. This of course could mean march even. Steve. Unlike the British Government, I actually Learn from my Mistakes.......... Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.
December 7, 200916 yr :( That just grinds my wheels (Peter Griffen-Family Guy)! Gotta love how payware designers charge you an arm and a leg for what basically you purchase is a photo-realistic exterior model of an aircraft. You said that C17 cost you $60 US. I would be ######. I think I spent about $36 or $40 for a Bell Huey AH-1Z super cobra and it was a total peice of crap! The exterior model was cool, but it had a crappy 2D panel and I dont want to even talk about what the VC cockpit looked like :( and a crappy sound file! Lets just say I had to do a little operation on this payware to make it worth what I spent my dough on! I zipped over to the former heli site known as "THELZ" and acquired an awesome Huey cobra sound file and I came here to Avsim and got a descent looking 2D panel for a cobra. Then I had to even edit the positions of the flashing lights on the Huey because they were all out of positioning :( ! It left a sour taste in my mouth and I never trusted payware aircrafts ever again! In all honesty if it takes freeware software to make payware addons feel real, then these creators shouldn't be charging $60 bucks and up for their crap. They should charge between $10 - $20 for their model and exterior paint work which is essentially what you are really paying for. So you gotta do a little freeware shopping around to upgrade your C17!
December 7, 200916 yr Now I first want to state I agree, to coin another companies phrase the "block" system of building and airplane is not good. I would never buy an airplane that didnt come complete I made that mistake with the Lago MD-80 a long time ago and I never got a vc for it. I know it has been finished under another name but I never got what I originally paid for. On the other hand if you dont get something released the people that have no patience complain about having to have something. I believe it is just better to release it finished. Check PMDG, VRS F-18, lvl-d, lots of people screaming for a release but finished and well worth the wait. Andrew
