REX

Well im very interested in the REX and im thinking of getting it, but theres one tiny thing puzzling, when you see the screenshots in the gallery you can see the ground and are the ground textures included in this or is it only for the clouds?if im not making this very clear ill try again explaining.. http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/ground/ground.htmlthats what im talking about. are those ground textures included in REX ?

I love REX, which has enhanced FSX for me considerably. REX does offer runway, taxiway, and parking area ground texures for airports but otherwise concentrates on sky, cloud, and sun textures. It also provides a good weather engine and other related features. It's terrific.

The ground textures you are looking at in many of those shots are from FTX which is a must if you wish to fly Australia. For the USA, Canada, and Europe you will want have a look at GEX for ground textures. As stated other than airport ground textures, REX is for sky, cloud, and water textures.http://fullterrain.com/http://gex.flight1.net/

Runway textures are REX. Ground texture are FTX. FTX are releasing an add-on for the Pacific NorthWest region of the US any time now. So it's not just for Australia. Download their freeware scenery for the entire state of Tasmania and see what everyone is raving about.http://fullterrain.com/freeware.htmlhttp://fullterrain.com/product_nablue.htmlThere's no doubt that REX is brilliant too.Cheers,Noel.

Ok thanks guys!think im going to get the REX and GTX since i live in Europe for starters. I just hope they wont affect my FPS to much but they said it should be friendly on that. Thanks again :)

I purchased GEX Europe and UTX Europe at the weekend, and all I can say is that in conjunction with REX they are superb.UTX and GEX together are a great combination. The registered version of FSUIPC is very useful, as the wind smoothing option fixes the sudden wind shifts still present in REX a treat. My REX review here...http://mutleyshangar.com/features/martw/rex.htmAnother benefit of GEX is that it seems to have fixed my stutters. Thanks to the great work of the developers. In short REX2 for FSX is excellent, UTX and GEX combined are also excellent, and I see no performance penalty from any of the three.

Martin-W thx for that great post, nice review im defenetly getting REX and GEX.

I'm surprised there are almost no screenshots or comments of how good REX depicts overcast conditions. Those fluffy clouds or clear skies reflected in the sunny waters are something we have used to since FS2004 already (with some +/- variations of course). My question is: how good is the depiction of IMC and/or multilayered overcast, when there's no blue skies at all for thousands of feet by REX?If you can add your comments and favorite settings here for thick cloud layers and depiction IMC in REX, it'd be very helpful when I buy it very soon. Thanks,Dirk.

Very good I would say, as long as your 'cloud detail' setting in FSX is set to max.http://realenvironmentxtreme.com/forum/ind...hp?topic=4911.0The guys over at REX are very friendly, I'm sure they will answer all your queries.I also believe [although I haven't tried it,] that if you nip up the CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY setting in the FSX CFG it will increase density.

Martin-W thx for that great post, nice review im defenetly getting REX and GEX.
I wouldn't want to encourage you to spend more money, but do consider UTX.UTX and GEX combined are excellent.

oh dear now you got me started. Good thing Xmas is just around the corner now.theres one more thing is GEX and UTX Compitable with FS9ive seen that REX is compitable with FS9, but coudn't make out clearly enough if GEX and UTX is compitable with FS9.

Ouhh dah should have know xDThx for all the help! :(
