December 8, 200916 yr hi,I bought Sim Savvy's american west and I do not regret it at all. The secenery looks gorgeous and it really gives a good terrain rendition. I don't know how to explain it but you get the impression that the mesh resolution is much higher than the default 38m. It is true that some adjacent areas can have slightly different colours (as told on their website) but it is not a real issue because it is still better than repetitive textures. It did not occur to me that textures could be installed on a seperate hard drive but it works very well with provided hard drive. It has changed my flying experience and it is cool to fly from california to montana or from washington to new mexico above realistic scenery even at low altitude. It looks good even at 1000ft/180 kt.Happy flying :( My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
December 8, 200916 yr Was just looking at this, glad it's working for you, but several things keep me from getting it, First is the disclaimer in the description "The scenery is 1 meter re-sampled to 2 meter for size and time constraints", which is taking quality and making it worse. Another is having to buy the harddrive ($80?) also, but I guess for many this is a better option if they don't have high speed internet. Lastly the lack of water masks, color correction, and autogen in a payware product. While I am sure lots of work went into this and there isn't any other alternative in some of the areas, this product could be much better. I'd gladly pay $200 for color corrected scenery at 60cm per pixel or less, it's the same process only larger file sizes and better source data. I'd say autogen also, but I know how tedious that is, just for small airports. Best, Michael KDFW

There are some areas where water looks funky, and a few small areas where the image isn't the best but overall I consider it one of the best additions I have gotten for the sim. I love photoreal scenery-especially for the Western Us where generics just don't do it justice. I posted some shots in the screen shot forum-try for instance finding the mountain of the holy cross in Colorado-you can-amazing! Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 8, 200916 yr Author Yes it may be resampled but you can still spot cars on roads and that is what matters doesn't it? Yes the colours are not perfect in some areas but which scenery is perfect at the time being. Overall I think it is a brilliant product. Don't forget you can download small areas for free from their website and check if the scenery suits you.Cheers My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/

I can fly jet speed and all looks perfect. It is less than $20 for a whole state, how can you go wrong at that price??And can you imagine downloading nearly 300gb of scenery..... I dont think so dude. The drive is a cool idea, its only half full and you can use the rest of the space for other stuff as well.bargain of the year I reckon !!!Ps: check out some of my screenies and Geoffs in the screenshots section, you will be seriously impressed.....cheers, mark
December 9, 200916 yr Moderator Yeah that stuff looks pretty good for the money. The only thing that keeps me from buying it is the lack of night textures. I never have and never will buy day only sceneries since I like to fly dawn and dusk flights that fade into day/night. I would be all over it had the author done some type of night textures, even if they were generic looking. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
