December 19, 200916 yr HelloWhen im flying with FSX at high altitudes a big Cloud layer bellow the plane follows the plane. You can't really see through the layer, and you can watch how it moves with the airplane. It's pretty annoying seeing a big patch of clouds just following you over a few thousand miles. You also see it if your flying over an ocean. A huge patch of fog is moving with the airplane...It happens when i use cloudy weather. If i use clear weather i don't have this problem. I tried putting settings to simple clouds, but that didn't help anything...Here are some pictures:Thx for your help
December 19, 200916 yr I'm glad you posted this, although I have no answer to the problem. Same thing happened to me yesterday. I flew a route from Osan AB, Korea to Japan and had a white cloud follow me all the way. The cloud maintained position approx. 25 ft. below and aft of the Acceleration F18. Never noticed it before, but was never looking for it either. I was anticipating it going away once I went feet wet, but it continued to display the duration of the flight. Maybe I've made my drinks too strong tonight :(
December 19, 200916 yr To further elucidate what I experienced, it was similar to exhaust, but was a white cloudish substance as listed above in my previous post. It was "following" my plane. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060

December 19, 200916 yr Author uuhhhmm .. well...errr....., I'm not trying to be a smart-arse but am I missing something - what do you expect when setting clouds on? Maybe I've made my drinks too strong tonight :(yes but clouds are clouds, and not fog layers that follow your airplane from London to Hong Kong...@DekeGood to hear some one has the same problem. I searched the internet and couldn't find anybody who had this problem...
December 19, 200916 yr I don't think contrails follow a plane 30 feet below and 30 feet behind an airplane during flight, maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully it was a one off. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
December 19, 200916 yr What clouds are you guys using? Reason I ask is before the freeware HD v1.0 clouds have this problem. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
December 19, 200916 yr @ shizlmizl....I reconstructed the same flight, Osan to Japan. The problem did not appear, sorry I could not help. In any case, my problem was a white "cloud object" following the plane, not similar to what you are experiencing. Good luck, Dave. December 19, 200916 yr Author What clouds are you guys using? Reason I ask is before the freeware HD v1.0 clouds have this problem.Currently im using X Graphics, REX 2 and FEX. AFAIK the problem still occurs with standard cloud textures, but i will try again...EDIT:The problem didn't disappear by backing up the standard cloud textures.
December 19, 200916 yr Hi All,Its the FS haze layer that you are seeing. There is no simple fix that I am aware of, but Active Sky Advanced does contain an option to get rid of this layer by installing a clear haze layer texture. Thanks,
December 19, 200916 yr Commercial Member The only 2 programs that will fix this (AFAIK) is REX and ASA. If you install any other package AFTER the fact, this problem will surface again. As Jim stated, the FSX haze layer is the culprit and is what you're experiencing. Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
December 19, 200916 yr You say you already using REX, and still you have this issue of what looks like cloud following your plane.Either find out how to disable fsx haze layer in rex, or go get ASA which is whaty i use, and i have set the option to disbale fsx haze layer.I also suspect you could fix the issue by taking time to see what fsx /rex weather settings might help
