December 29, 200916 yr hello,I have the PMDG 747-400 for FSX for a few months now and think it is great. Now i want to get another aircraft add-on. Since i like to fly airliners and want the most realistic cockpit like the PMDG 747-400 where you can almost click every switch, i want to get the PMDG MD-11 for FSX. But the problem is the price tag it has. On the PMDG website the MD-11 for fsx is $79.99. since i live in the uk i looked at amazon.uk and it is

December 29, 200916 yr I think it's worth every penny that I paid. If you like the B744 I think you'll enjoy the challenge of learning a different type of heavy - and it is different :-) I've had, and continue to have, hours of entertainment from this product. Yes, it was quite a chunk of cash at first, but I'm still getting enjoyment from it. In case you hadn't guessed, I love this aircraft ;-) Admittedly I use the FS9 version, but believe my comments generally are valid here. December 29, 200916 yr Since it is a high price for one aircraft is it worth it? Also like to know what kind of perfromance hit it has on frame rate.I think it is worth it. You will get better frame rates than you get with the 747-400 (I have both for FSX).Bear in mind that both of these are widebody, long-haul aircraft. The MD-11 has a different FMS and systems, but the overall experience of flying in it is similar to flying the 747. If you want to try something different, I would recommend the PMDG JS4100. You will be flying shorter distances and much lower, so weather becomes a factor (icing is simulated). It does not have 2D panels, failures, or panel state save/load, but it has a gorgeous VC and a lower price tag. December 29, 200916 yr Gavin, I'll second that. I also have the FS9 version and to the other chap, This is the best yet from PMDG and was much better optimized than the '744' was. Amazon seemed to have beaten the 'Play.com' price too, so I say go for it. Dave Taylor
December 29, 200916 yr One of the best things about the MD11 is that you get the same high fps as you get with defualt fsx aircraft. UNlike the pmdg 747 that is quite fps hungry.

December 29, 200916 yr Play.com has it cheaper with free postage http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/5508889/Mc...1X/Product.html On play.com it says its PRE-ORDER, due for release 08/05/09. But underneath there is a option to buy it. Does that mean they are in stock and the pre order thing is something they not got rid of yet?
December 29, 200916 yr I own it for FSX... And it is very easy on the FPS. I know this will make the purists mad, but I like to think of the MD-11 as the illegitimate love child between Boeing and Airbus :( Once you learn how to fly it you will see this statement isn't that far from the truth, IMHO.

Well I had a little chuckle anyway....and yes, it's worth the money. I'm sure you won't regret it. Especially if you also get Fly Tampa's 'Kai Tak' to go with it. Simply a brilliant combination. December 30, 200916 yr It's a great product, really, well-made. Worth the price. I also want to get it to. You won't regret it, PMDG makes really good aircrafts. Andrew i7 3820 @ 3.6 / P9X79LE / 16GB RAM / GTX 660
