The announcement thread above seems to have degenerated into general FS2004-bashing, so I'm starting a new topic for this question.There was mention that the 747-8 was a much more optimized model, and so would perform better in FSX compared to the 747-400X. What I'm not sure of is, where can we expect to see that performance improvement? In the 2D/VC, or only in exterior views?I understand the VC in the -8 is unchanged, but I don't know how FSX works well enough to understand if an optimized exterior model translates into better performance in the cockpit. Hey Tom,I asked basically the same question in the PMDG 747-8i thread,yet to be answered, and I too am very curious how the PMDG team will achieve this.

No, they said they didn't do this.@Chapstick. I suppose you are right. Several others have brought it up over in the PMDG forums, but I haven't seen an answer, so we'll have to wait and see. A shame if the performance improvements are only in exterior views, I could really use a few FPS in the 747X cockpit.

I don't see how it would be a huge benefit to increase the FPS on the exterior only when you spend 90% of your time in the VC. At least I do.It's a shame the PMDG Devs/Mods have to sort through all the FS9/FSX BS and questions like these go unnoticed

PMDG has stated, performance should be slightly better then the MD-11X in both external and VC views.
