Hydraulics and FD question

Featured Replies

Hello,as i am working my way thru the checklists, i came across the hydraulics. I've had the case before, where i had set everything off (not per shutdown checklist) to have a cold and dark start. I've noticed when taxiing i have absolutly no braking power (i think due to closing the hydraulic LP valves). The manual says i can activate the emergency brake system by pulling the handbrakes... which has no effect. The manual also calles for checking the emergency hydraulics selector by lifting the panel and verifying the selector is in the normal position. Is this actually modeled in the sim, because i cant figure out how to lift it? Also the hand pump the manual mentions, is it useable? My other question is probably a stupid question... (assuming the first one is not :( )How do i turn on the Flight director? Thanks in advanceLuis

I had to move my eyepoint to behind and right of the center console to find it. It is simulated if memory serves me.FD is active anytime you have a AFCS mode turned on such as HDG or VS, it doesn't become an autopilot until that is turned on.

Great news, thanks for your answer.Luis

You can see it behind the centre console but it doesn't do anything, you can't open it and see the selector or the hand pump.

Just to add to this, Dan...Prior to take off, I always engage the FD using the G/A button on the thrust levers. That way I get the flight director at the required nose up for G/A which gives me the right indications on climb out. I then switch over to HDG/NAV as required so that the FD works accordingly...Andrew

Does this mean we can't deploy the gear when there is no hydraulics?I tried to find this in the manual because last night I had some fun when I pressed Control-F1 in stead of Control F2... Yep, saw some smoke and flames, got those out, was high enough to reach an airport, but hey, no landing gear...ooops.Greetings and thank you for this wonderful add-on. I was doubtfull at first but once I got to know her, she's a favourite :) Eric, Netherlands
