FS2Crew MD80 questions

Featured Replies

First of all this sounds like a complete in-cockpit voice interaction simulation finally therefore I'm bringing this up to the general discussion. Congratulations to FS2Crew and Maddog2008 developers. In combination with FS2Crew and VOX ATCX Maddog might become the ultimate Pilot's simulation for MSFS/FSX. I hope FS2Crew Maddog also uses PTT assignments for speaking to the SAPI so basically there should not be conflicts for using VOX ATCX communication alongside (by assigning different PTT keys to different SAPI-based programs). In line with the above thoughts there are some other important technical questions:1) Did anyone check FS2Crew with MD2008Pro in a widescreen panel version? This is really critical for me, I'm on a widescreen monitor and I'm not going back to 4:3 (flattened panels are out of any consideration). Please also advise if this works with MD2008 widescreen panel both in FSX and FS2004?2) Did anyone try to fly FS2Crew MD2008 in FSX virtual cockpit only? If it's too heavy on the FPS I suggest FS2Crew consider making a similar addon for F1's Super80Pro ASAP! :)3) Did anyone try flying FS2Crew MD2008 online in VATSIM/IVAO? Any observations or epxeriences that you can share? Thanks,Dirk.PS: This last one question here is in reference to FS2Crew's other 2010 product FS2Crew 2010 PMDG B737: Anyone tried to fly PMDG B737 from VC only with all the benefitts of FS2Crew voice-recognition addon?? I hate those flattened panels on the widescreen, so even though I still fly FS9 occasionally, but ONLY those planese that either have widescreen mods for their Main 2D panels or FULL VC functionality (pop up 2D panels are no problem for me though, I actually like to use them resized in my VC planes for better accessibility, like some rotaries on the overhead etc.).

Hey Dirk,1. It doesn't simulate mouse clicks but can read the switch position and manipulate directly through the use of the Maddog SDK. It's awesome and much more elegant than some of the other versions.2. I don't use it in FSX, but I do use it in the FS9 VC and haven't noticed any slowdown3. No problem here. You can assign a switch to temporarily deactive the voice recognition. Use the same button as SB or FSINN PTT, and you won't have any issues. With regards to your PS- I do use the 737 voice commander from the VC without issue. There is no SDK, so it uses small pop-up windows and simulated mouse clicks. It works, but not as well as in the Maddog!Hope this helps.

Hi Dirk,I'll answer if no one else does:1. Widescreen panel version in FS9/FSX: It works great. In fact, I personally only use the widescreen panel as it's the best in my view.2. Performance in the VC: That depends on your system and your sliders. Generally, if you're happy with frame rates you're getting now in the VC, then you won't have a problem with FS2Crew.3. Flying on-line with VATSIM is no problem. In fact, the Maddog version even has a new push to hold mute key function. So when whenever you're talking to ATC, you can push and hold the mute button and the FS2Crew FO won't accidentally act on anything that you say to ATC.In fact, if using Squawkbox 4 (FS9 version), the FO will automatically be 'muted' when transmitting on voice.4. 737 Voice version of FS2Crew in the VC... people do it all the time.... here are two YouTube videos:Approach and Landing in Australia with FS2Crew Voice Default 737 FSXPMDG 737 Voice Control FS2Crew

Thanks, for the answers, awesome. Will buy it shortly.I saw both videos btw, put them up more on the youtube.Dirk.

Can anyone tell me how this interacts with AES? The manual mentions that it doesn't duplicate the jetway call command, but what I am particularly interested in is how it deals with pushback? Does it replace the FS2Crew pushback commands so that everything else around the pushback work as it should with FS2Crew. Thanks.

With AES, the jetway sound and call isn't duplicated as you correctly mentioned. For the pushback/start crew, you simply wouldn't "call" the FS2Crew start crew (you wouldn't say: "Cockpit to Ground...", so the FS2Crew start crew wouldn't become active. You'd instead interact with the AES pushback crew just as you regularly would. So FS2Crew Voice and AES work great side by side.Hope that helps,
