new flightplan, no atc-clearance

Featured Replies

Hi fellow simmers,Recently I have started playing with the atc-feature in FS2004.And it works fairly ok. But there is one problem.I had completed a flight earlier on, with a flightplan and with atc. After landing and taxiing to the stand I have shutdown the plane as usual and after that I have saved the flight. Now I want to load that same flight in fs2004 and file an new flightplan. There is no problem creating it and loading it in fs2004. I even get to see it in the gps-gauge. But now I try to contact ground to get an atc-clearance. However the only option I get is "1 select progressive taxi". There are no other options like "request ifr-clearance".Appearantly with atc my old flightplan is still active or so. Do I need to close that flightplan with atc first? But how?Hope anyone can help. Thanks,Marc

After you created your new plan did FS ask if you wanted to move to the new location / gate / parking? If you say no you will not be able to get a clearance.

This situation will also occur if you did not use the parking space designated by the sim after your last flight. There is a program available that will allow you to contact ATC and get clearance but I don't remember the name and/or if it still is available here on AVSIM due to the hack a while back. Maybe a search of 'ATC' in the library will locate it for you.Jim D.

Yea, thats probably the problem. If you get instructions to taxi to parking (or gate), you must get close to the spot so the progressive line disappears and your ATC window changes to the normal preflight options.

I do that all the time, and I'm able to start a new flight plan. Occasionally, I have to do the flight plan twice, but it always let's me do it.To the original poster: As stated, you need to taxi to the parking spot/gate that ATC assigns you, and get close enough to the parking position for that parking spot/gate for it to register, for your previous flight plan to officially end and reset the ATC system. You can force a reset, however, by going into the map (World->Map...) and changing your aircraft's heading by 1 degree. This will reset the ATC system and your previous flight plan, so you can then reload your created flight plan for the next flight.
