RealityXP and Carenado 182RG

Featured Replies

Hey all,I just purchased the RealityXP Garmin 430, Flight Line N & T gauges, and the Carenado 182RG. First off, I was wondering if anyone has edited a panel for this plane to fit all the things that I listed above in it. If not, could someone give me some advice or a link to where I can find more information on installing the Flight Line gauges into the 182? I have been using the config wizard from RXP but for some reason the gauges don't show up.Thanks,Cameron

Can you see them if you turn off the main panel view/s from the drop down menu? You might have to undock the windows if its a newer panel.

Suggest also posting this question in the RealityXP support forum. I'm sure someone has done this airplane. Are you trying to update the VC or the 2d cockpit? Basically, you need to open up the panel.cfg file with Notepad and substitute the old gauge names with the RXPequivalents. Then there may be some fine tuning of the coordinates if the gauges are offset a bit.Takes some work, but is definitely do-able.As an example, this is what it looks like in the FS9 version of the 182RG VC://--------------------------------------------------------[Vcockpit01]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=512,512visible=0pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$CessnaRG_1gauge00=RealityXP_FLT!Attitude, 0,0,128,128gauge01=RealityXP_FLT!Airspeed, 128,0,128,128gauge02=RealityXP_FLT!TurnCoordinator, 0,128,128,128gauge03=RealityXP_FLT!Altimeter, 128,128,128,128gauge04=RealityXP_FLT!Gyro, 256,0,128,128gauge05=RealityXP_FLT!VerticalSpeed, 384,0,128,128In the FSX version, the gauge names are RXPFLT!..... etc

Ok I managed to get everything figured out with the Flightline gauges. Can anyone help me with installing the GNS430 into the VC? I have been searching my documentation for tutorials but haven't been able to find anything.

Easiest is to find a radio which you can do without and replace it with RXPGNS!GNS430One of the supplied RXP manuals actually has a lot of info, look for GNS Service Manual

Well, I am afraid this simple solution won't work in the C182RG (like it would in for instance the C185F): the top of the radiostack in the C182RG (audio panel, two radio's and the ADF, if I remember well) is ONE huge gauge... So the only way to get the GPS in a normal slot is to remove that one big radiostack-gauge and install seperate gauges into it... I managed to put the default GPS530 into the C182RG by replacing the huge gauge with the C185F audio panel, the C185F radio and then the FSX GPS530. If you don't own the C185F or another Carenado plane with similar seperate gauges, look for some other planes you have that have gauges you could use in the C182RG. It will require quite some editing and experimenting, specially if this is your first panel-job. Maybe you can use some gauges from the default C172: that would make it easier to help you out because I have those too, obvioulsy. :(

Are you using FS panel studio? Its kinda a waste to buy all the Reality XP Guages and not have this. You will be able to customize your dash to what ever you want. You just drag and drop the guages, just like moving icons on your desktop. I have a badass Cessna Centurion with all the Flightline guages and Dual stack garmin 430's that was for Fs2004 that I wish I could bring over to FSX http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=FSP-ESD-001

The RXP GNS package includes a transponder and an audio panel, so that should help..Also, the Baron Autopilot works well.

I use the 530 and the 430 in the RG. I don't have a snap of the 430 in RG, but do have one of the Q, but both lay-out bassically the same. I highly recommend the Freindy Panel gauge pack to fill-in your other 'radios'.182RG_B.jpg182RG_C.jpgThe Q, but the RG is pretty much the same:182q430.jpgBTW, I do this all by 'hand' without the need for Panel Studio, but many folks do use it.

I would really rather not purchase FS Panel Studio because this is the only plane I will be putting the gauges into. Could you possible show me how you did this? Maybe you can send me a copy of your panel.cfg? However, instead of the 530 being there it would be really nice to have the 430, since that's what I use in RL.

You can do this all by hand. You'll have to either experiment a bit, or find someone who has done this particular plane the way you want it.Basically, in the panel.cfg file, find the radios that are going to be ripped out of the panel to make room for the new.Put two slashes in front of any gauge to remove it.Then assemble the new gauges and add them to the panel, using the next few gaugeXX numbers.Adjust the sizes (Format: GaugeXX = Gauge-Family-name ! Individual-name, LocationX, LocationY, Width, Height)Location refers to the upper left corner of the gauge. Send me a PM if you have questions :(

I found this thread while doing research on how to replace the radio stack in my Carenado 182RG. I have almost everything in place as I would like it in the 2D panels, more to do and learn on the 3D but part way there on that.I have run into one strange anomaly though. I used all the stock FSX Bendix King electronics. Com/Nav 1, however, has a glitch. When I mouse over the standby display digits to change frequency on either com or nav it is changing the active digits instead. I tuned in ATIS to listen and can hear the ATIS on the active freq as displayed, and the stand by button works properly as well, So the radio is otherwise working correctly.I also tested the same radio in other aircraft and it works correctly everywhere else. Any idea where I need to look to correct this? Thanks!Tom G.

Have a look at the aircraft.cfg file for this airplane. There is a Radios section.Something like:[Radios]// Radio Type=available, standby frequency, has glide slopeCom.1=1, 0 Com.2=1, 1 Nav.1=1, 0, 1 Nav.2=1, 1, 0 Audio.1=1 Adf.1=1 Transponder.1=1 Marker.1=1 Change COM.1 to 1, 1NAV.1 to 1, 1, 1

Bert,Thanks for the reply. I checked the radio settings they were as follows:Com.1=1Com.2=1, 1 Nav.1=1, 0, 1 Nav.2=1, 1 Audio.1=1 Adf.1=1 Transponder.1=1 Marker.1=1 As suggested I changed the Com and Nav 1 to: COM.1 to 1, 1NAV.1 to 1, 1, 1All is now working properly.THANKS!!!Tom G.
