hello everyone, this topic may be in the system somewhere, but i thought it might be worth mentioning again particularly to those like me who forgot about it or for those still on an early learning curve. last night i did a flight from katl-kaus approx.800miles in the MD11 - but this applies to all aircraft with FMC - i selected arrival runway 17R where the chart ils frequency stated 110.95 but on approach/land nothing happened. i aborted the flight and investigated the fault. on going to the msfs map at KAUS i noticed the ILS frequency for runway 17R was 110.3 which to my understanding this frequency will supercede the chart frequency on the charts (assuming you are using the latest AIRAC). the bottom line is, check your departing and arrival airports in the msfs first and check they agree with your chart info and where they differ use the msfs data. i think i am correct with this info but as usual i am open to contradiction. if i am correct, then it is worth bearing in mind for future reference. richard welsh.

You're correct, Richard, frequencies change and the changes are in the navdata but MSFS must be updated on occasion as well. Too bad they didn't develop a systematic approach to doing this other than the trap you fell into. I've lined up for an approach more than once only to find the entire runway was missing from MSFS.

Yeah that happens quite a bit in Africa, 8 hours longhaul to some remote Cargo field only to find the entire Airfield is missing or you find a single runway with no taxiway. I always search the net for a addon scenery for my destinations now and double check the ILS freq if there is one.

hi, further to this, i did the same flight tonight using the default msfs ils frequency 110.3 and everything went as smooth as a nut, however nearing approach a message appeared on the scratchpad stating insert 110.95. i deleted this message and just carried on. richard welsh

If you have an AFCAD editor, you can update the erroneous ILS frequency as well...Andrew
