Problems with Eric Marciano's Airbus Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hey everybody,I bought Eric Marciano's upgrade pack for volume 1 and volume 2 which runs at a price of 40 Euros. The upgrade works perfectly and it really enhances the panel..... if you fly the wilco models. Now, who thinks the volume 2 models look anything like the real wide bodies? Anyone? I didn't think so. :( So here is the problem. Before (with the last update that wilco gave) mergers with the airbus were very simple and everything worked great. Now that I have the upgrade, no merger with any other add on will work. Period. I have tried everything. What I have concluded is that the new gauge file is tied to the model file, and it will not accept any other model file. What happens is if you go to the outside view, or virtual cockpit and advance the throttles to any range, they will just go to max power and it will idle shortly afterward without any input. And then if you are flying along and you switch to outside (and you are in CL mode) or virtual cockpit, it dies and goes to idle. I have tried it with CLS, Project Airbus, and Overland/Simmer's Sky. All with the same result. Does it happen with the wilco models? Absolutely not, everything works perfect. So in a way with the new upgrade being great, we also have to fly the tragic wilco models and it's not even worth changing the view to outside. Any ideas or do we just have to suffer? :( Scott

All I can say is that my merge with the PA model works fine, except for a visual oddity of the horizontal stab being fully deflected whenever I watch a landing in replay. Other than that, I haven't observed any control oddities. Are you sure you haven't inadvertently changed any other settings? Can't speak for CLS A330/340 merges - I'd been so disappointed with the Version 1 upgrade that I passed on buying the one for Version 2.

Cheers,

Mack

According to Eric Mariano's site, what is being offered is an Upgrade for Airbus Series Volume 2, which as far as I understand, is a Wilco/FeelThere product.I can't see anywhere it states that it is for any other product. If so, what's your complaint? - you say it "works perfectly and it really enhances the panel..... if you fly the wilco models"

How did you do your merge? Did you just throw the panel from wilco into the panel folder for project airbus or did you make modifications to the panel.cfg? May I ask why you were dissapointed with the upgrade?

What I mean by that is that the panel only works with the wilco models which is a bummer because the models look terrible. It would be nice to be able to merge the version update with a more attractive model such as CLS or PA.Scott

I just tested the upgrade on a totally different computer and got the same effect. A small input with power from the yoke and the power automatically goes to max, and then idles shortly after ward. And then in the air the throttle acts crazy and slides into idle. So it is not any settings. It is the upgrade. I'm out of ideas. This doesn't happen with any other plane or merge I have.Scott

Disappointed because it's mostly an eyecandy update - it doesn't really address any of the real and annoying problems with the panel. As for the merge - I don't remember to be honest, it's been a while - IIRC I just did a basic merge, copying over contact points and the model file over from PA and keeping everything else from the FT.

Yes, but why buy an add-on for a Wilco aircraft (which you dislike) and then complain publically because it doesn't work with other aircraft?

'Cause it's a forum :(

For 40 Euro's, I would expect the whole package! This addon is grossly overpriced. :(

There is that too of course!

remember, "the upgrade that make [sic] the Airbus Series aircrafts [sic] compatible with the CockpitSonic MCDU hardware." ( http://emarciano.free.fr/Cockpit/MCDUDoc/Descritption.html )this is why you see the above quoted price-point.--

Dave, of course your right. Now where was that hole I need to hide inside :(

That's not correct for all I know... The 40 Euros is the price you pay without the MCDU compatibility patch. If you want to buy it with that path, you pay more. 40 Euros is the price of the systems upgrade if you buy both the Airbus Vol 1 and 2 upgrades together. Buy them seperately, and you pay 30 Euros.

The upgrade is nice in the sense that it fixes all the really annoying MCDU problems and issues with navigation on SIDs and STARs. This is why I personally like it. I'm not sure why you would say "why would you buy a plane with a model and then merge it with something else?" This happens all the time. Merges are very common and it's not because it's "a forum".If you don't have any ideas to the source of the problem then I wouldn't waste your time posting at all.Scott

Ok so it's definitely the .gau file not meshing with the project airbus, CLS, or any model for the matter. Any ideas on how that could be? And what can be done to fix that?Scott
