March 20, 201016 yr Downloaded and installed a scenery upgrade for Newark, NJ. Install went fine, then got an AFCAD to compliment it. "Wow! Whatta a difference AFCAD can make to AI traffic! And the planes are at the correct gates! I think I'll cruise around in my C-172 and have a closer look!"Rolling down the taxiway all of a sudden its like I run into an invisible wall or something! The "CRASH!" notification comes up and that's the end of that. So I go to start another round airborne and coming in from another angle to buzz the terminal (actually I was cutting the grass so to speak) and wham! The plane vaults on its nose and I hit yet another invisible - whatever it is.This is the first time I have enecountered this one. I checked the forums but no luck. Is this a flaw in the scenery design somehow? My knee-jerk reaction is to simply disable it and just drop an AFCAD into the default airport. I cruised around Newark before I had the scenery add-on goin' and everything was fine, so I guess I have my answer - or do I?Anybody else experience this?I swear to God, in a few months if I ever get this flight sim ironed out to the way I want it, I'm copying the entire thing over to another hard drive to save it, just in case. Have to get to bed now, the DMAFB Tucson airshow gates open in less than 8 hours! WOOT!

WOOT!We might be able to help if you would indicate the complete filename of the scenery in question and the afcad you added (links would be helpful) so one of us can see if we can duplicate the problem and offer a possible solution.Of course turning off "Crash Detection" under your Settings/Realism dialogue may the easiest thing to do. The afcad is not the cause of the crash but the scenery enhancement certainly could be.

I then laid "Newark Liberty Int'l Airport (KEWR) with active Crosswind Runway" (lb_af2_kewr_sw.zip) by Lee Brompton on top of it. Like you say, AFCAD shouldn't cause a physical crash like that. There is something goofy goin' on scenery-wise I would suspect. Both files are right here in the AVSIM Library;Filename: kewr.zip License: Freeware Added: 6th December 2003 Downloads: 18077 Author: Steve Whalin Size: 1858kb andFilename: lb_af2_kewr_sw.zip License: Freeware Added: 2nd March 2010 Downloads: 507 Author: Lee Brompton Size: 260kb Thanks in advance!

I turned crash detection on (I normally have it off) and could not duplicate your problem - absolutely no crashes into anything visible or invisible.I placed Lee's replacement afacd into the scenery subfolder of KEWR after disabling the original one which came with the package.I have no other enhancements in the area and no terrain enhancements installed either.Do you have any other airport enhancements in the vicinity? If so, try disabling them in the Scenery Library dialogue and see if that might stop the one you have at KEWR.If this is happening at the exact same spot every time, can you please indicate where that spot is - just in case I missed it. I did taxi all around and on all taxiways and runways.
March 21, 201016 yr Author Thanks so much "Opa"!Tomorrow I'll give it another go around and see if I can duplicate it. It's just I'm pretty tired tonight after spending most of all day at the airshow here! I will try again and post here and let ya know what I found. I Googled it and found no hits on it. I have NYC Bridge Fix installed but all of those sceneries ar a ways off from Newark. Nothing else that I can think of right now. Thanks again and I'll get back later.
March 21, 201016 yr I took a look at the addon kewr.zip without the other Afcad.Starting a flight at 4L, turn 90 degrees to your left and taxi straight ahead. You will run into a big invisible crash box south of the FedEx building.I still have not been able to determine what causes it.Hope this helps,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

March 22, 201016 yr I had this same problem with Imaginesim's KEWR... I ended up uninstalling it because I would get CTD's approaching the NYC are period let alone landing at KEWR. The freeware version of KEWR solved my NYC area CTD's. I haven't tested this specific issue with KEWR with my freeware scenery for the airport. If I'm getting the same issue as reported here then there's a bigger problem going on somewhere. I can't believe both payware and freeware scenery have the exact same problem. March 22, 201016 yr Les,The issue with this addon is not a CTD, it is an "object collision" issue. When taxiing around the airport one can crash into invisible objects causing the sim to restart the flight, not CTD.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
