FSUIPC, FS9, and twin engine planes.

Featured Replies

Ok, sorry folks. I am not familiar with how to post and have had to resort to HTML stuff. Ok, my problem/s: Originally I had a MS sidewinder 2 joystick. All was working. Machine died and I re-built it. Alas the joystick was the cause of problems, so I bought a new Saitek one - USB as well. Machine started working again. Now, I have this probelm that I am using FSUIPC and I am using it to do the control axis... But I think it is causing problems. On a single engine plane, I think it is all ok, as I have flown a small plane ok. But then I wanted to do a twin prop. After trying to set up the assignments with FSUIPC I noticed a problem when flying. Pitch control on the stick controls engine 1 throttle. Roll controls engine 2 throttle. I can't find how/"who" is doing this. I am guessing FSUIPC, but can't be sure. I have tried clearning the assignments but to no avail. The throttle on the joystick also controls engine 1&2 throttles but it isn't set in FS, or any program. So again, I suspect FSUIPC. Could someone please help me?

You have to get every axis and sensitivity set within FS2004 first, then go into FSUIPC to fine tune settings. Your axis are most likely wrong in your main joystick settings.

Oh dear.I don't think the joystick axis are assigned. In FSUIPC, I use the ..... Oh, I forget, but it is not the direct to FS option. (It is on another machine)

In FSX you disable controllers in setup all together and do all calibrating and assigning within FSUIPC. Does it work that differently in FS9?

I am using FS9.10 is a long way off. I don't have enough money to justify paying for a new 'puta to play FS10 quick enough. But, I think you are right. From what I understand FSUIPC has its own "input" system, so I don't assign them in FS9 and callibrate them with FSUIPC.

When you plug a new joystick into FS9 the program automatically assigns certain axes. you can see this by looking at the assignment pages in FS9. It is quite likely that some odd assignments have been automatically registered. You should check and delete any that you dont want, although it is no guarantee that FS9 wont assign them again.FSUIPC will NOT assign any axes without you telling it to do so. There are a number of approaches to joystick assignment. First you should use the windows joystick calibration tool with FS9 shut down. Then you should calibrate in FS9 and set assignments. If you want to "fine tune" calibration with FSUIPC you can do so, make sure you read the FSUIPC guide first. The system I use is to "disable joystick" in FS9 and assign/ calibrate everything through FSUIPC. This means that specific a/c have specific buttons/spoiler and flap axes etc. It takes a while to set up, but once it is done you will never have a conflict.Peter

That is correct! Also be sure to disable joystick in FS9. FSUIPC is your friend. Do not use or load the drivers from Saitek either. And just to be sure, clear all button and axis assignments in FS9, then use your friend FSUIPC.Jim D.

Disable joystick?!Wow.Well, appart from that, I am sure that I have deleted all assignments.FSUIPC's "aircraft specific" settings are handy and that is what I am trying to do.What I find "annoying" is that FSUPIC doesn't have a way of showing you completely what is assigned to what.I am suspicious that somehow the joystick axis are double assigned. But there is no way of checking in FSUIPC.

1. You may have deleted an assignment in FS9, but that is no guarantee it will not get re-assigned by FS9 next time you turn on the sim.2. If you are using aircraft specific assignments then you really should be using the "disable joystick" method...ie EVERYTHING assigned through FSUIPC (that includes hat views !)3. FSUIPC will show you what is assigned. Go to the buttons or axes pages and press the button or move the axis (may need to press re-scan). FSUIPC will then show you what you have assigned. 4. Double assignment : can be caused by FS9 itself. It cannot be caused by FSUIPC without you doing it !Peter
