FSX Hang on Opening.

Featured Replies

I installed this things called RealTrim, it invloved a .dll and some edit to the .dll in the APPDATA section of FSX. I did it all (as the instructions said) and ran flight simulatior a couple times (and FSX worked) but I never got the RealTrim thing to work. Today I clicked to open FSX and she sits in the splashscreen for like 20 mintues and then she fails and gives me an error. I tried to get FSX turn off throught the CTRL ALT DEL but it wont end the process. Anyone have any ideas? I took out the real trim thng., but nothing seems to work. God help me if I have to install everything again. take me dayS!!! here the error.

Delete the fsx.cfg and start up FSX and let it auto-regenerate the cfg, see what happens.

Have you tried deleting the entry out of the dll.xml and the entry out of the "Trusted" section of your FSX.cfg? You may want to double check your exe.xml as well to make sure you dont have any funny entries or syntax errors in it. You could also check the dll.xml to make sure you dont have any syntax errors in it after you editied it.I wouln't worry about having to uninstalling everyting though. I think that provided you put everything back to the way it was prior to installing Real Trim you should be ok. One other things you could do as well besides checking the Trusted section of your FSX.cfg, is to make a copy of the FSX.cfg and place it somewhere safe. Then delete the existing FSX.cfg and restart FSX and let it build a new one. Then you can refer back to the old FSX.cfg for any tweaks you may need to put in the new one.

If the above fails, try deleting your pilot log book, that did it to me once.
I agree. The symptoms indicate to me a corrupt FSX logbook. Rename the logbook.bin and restart FSX. It will build a new one. Thendownload one of the logbook recovery utilities and a logbook editor.Never, EVER edit the FSX logbook from within the FSX GUI. There isan error in the way FSX saves the logbook entries after an edit ofany entry with a comment. It WILL corrupt the logbook and FSXWILL hang on the spashscreen. Paul
