Well, glad that my freeze problem 'forced' me to U/G

I guess that I wouldn't have upgraded from Active Sky 6.5 to Active Sky Evolution had I not had my freeze up problem and pegged it to an A.S. 6.5/FSUIPC conflag.I must say that A.S. Evolution is a true step up in atmospheric representation. For one thing, ground fog and haze are rads better than they were depicted in A.S. 6.5 So for me I guess, it was a kick-in-the-pants blessing in disguise, lol.Back to a great sky AS Evo/REX2!Mitch, who is somewhere in the Caribbean and no longer 'freezing' in FSX...(smile!)

Hey Mitch:To answer the question from the other post - just start REX: figure out what you actually want to see or happen - like the weather engine; save that; figure out what clouds/runways/water, etc., that you need; save that theme; then install the theme to FSX. Then shut down REX if you are going to use the ASE weather engine. All REX does is supply the textures, and then its weather engine manipulates that theme. ASE just does the "manipulation" bit better.Glad this was the issue.

I thought ASE and REX were redundant. People use both at once? One does ASE give that REX doesn't? (I have REX is why I'm wondering).

Thanks Paul. So, other than when using AS 6.5 and having to disable ASG, you just carry on business as usual with ASE. Thanks. I did take a SNAPSHOT of all my REX textures and named it UNIVERSAL. All-in-all, I like what ASE is doing.Mitch

You can use REX's textures and ASE's weather engine. Its the perfect combo. REX has a weather engine but its not nearly as good as ASE.

REX is a texture engine, and if you don't use the REX weather engine, you need to replace it for the/a weather engine to manipulate the textures. I used Active Sky 6.5, but seemingly, I had issues with it. I moved up to the latest engine, and all is well.Mitch

Mitch I ask you again to avoid opening xxxx threads about the same items. Please continue your discussion in your previous post:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=280751Thanks
