April 2, 201016 yr I'm just returning to MSFS after a looooong absence and have a question (I'm sure this has been answered before but it's not at all clear to me). My question is: from a purely performance perspective, am I better off to just install SP1 or should I install SP2 as well? I've tried it both ways and it looks like only using SP1 is a bit better. But, I haven't used FSX long enough to tell for sure. Any advice? Thanks.....DougCooler Master HAF 932 TowerThermaltake 1200w ToughpowerGigabyte GX-X58A-UD7Intel i7-960 @ 3.44GHzCooler Master V8 HSF12GB Corsair XMS3 Dominator DDR3-1600AMD 5870 GPU300GB Western Digital Raptor6TB HDD Internal - Hitachi6TB HDD External - Western Digital2X Plextor PX-880SA2X Plextor PX-870AWindows 7 Professional 64-Bit Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. April 2, 201016 yr Just remeber that if you have installed acelleration you have already installed SP2.its part of the install
April 3, 201016 yr With the good though also comes the bad! If you use AI with FS9 models (like WOAI) you will have to turn off aircraft shadows in order to see them at some airports. You will also have problems with GameCam if you happen to use that to record videos. (Most that do record uses FRAPS, so it's not an issue. It just performs better IMHO). Other than that I would say upgrade. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
April 3, 201016 yr Author Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to do a clean install tonight and go with acceleration... I hadn't thought about the fact that some add-ons may require it.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage.
