April 6, 201016 yr We were in Houston TX, USA a few days ago. We stayed at a hotel just off the end of 15L. There must have been a 100 planes take off in 2 hours. It was amazing. Anyways I was on Google looking for the hotel. When I found it I looked closer and at the corner of Greens Rd. and John f. Kennedy Blvd which is between our hotel and the end of 15L there is a jet taking off a few hundred feet up. It is just starting a left turn out. Neat the Google caught this.JimCYWG
April 6, 201016 yr I was looking at Google the other day just south of KDAL rwy13R and there is a Southwest 737 over a warehouse. Its pretty cool.I guess Google has caught a lot of jets and things in their pics. I wonder how often they update.to see the one Im talking about go to Manor Way and Cedar Springs Road. check out how far offset from the runway he is.must have been a strong west wind. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. April 6, 201016 yr I think some of that might be the product of the angle the satellite took the picture from.Check out the approach end of rwy 31 at La Guardia (KLGA).regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

Although satellite imagery is quite good, the cost to google from the satellite companies would be prohibitive for areas with high res. I know for certain that in AZ google uses aircraft imagery for the major metro areas, and I have no reason to doubt that they do the same for many of the cities around the world.
April 12, 201016 yr OK, it is easy to see where they are using LANDSAT images, but how about places like North Korea? Seems like plenty of high resolution but I doubt many planes are flying over taking snaps.scott s..
