April 7, 201016 yr The tweaks work but after a few minutes I get the sparkling tiny white blocks, and still get some flashing once is a while.Video card is not over-clocked and not over heating. CPU is running at 4Ghz and memory at 1866.Any ideas how to over-come these problems would be greatly appreciated.FSX with SP1 and SP2 (not Acceleration).W7 Prof x64, i7 975, 6 GB Corsair 1966, GTX295, Rampage II Extreme with mini FX sound card. Windows, .Net, DirectX, sound driver, blah blah blah are all up to date.Using nVidia driver release 197.13.Using Nick's tuning guide for nHancerWhen running with Unlimited frames and nHancer VSync off I get from 40 to 100 fps.I am using the following tweaks ...[GRAPHICS]SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=2 ( I had deleted a day ago the shaders directory and let FSX rebuild ... original value was 1)TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 ( tried 1024, 2048 and 4096)HIGHMEMFIX=1STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=2147483647[sOUND]SOUND=1SOUND_QUALITY=2SOUND_LOD=0[Display]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80 ( tried 400 too)UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=60 ( tried unlimited too)TextureMaxLoad=9 ( tried 30 too)[sCENERY]DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=0 ( tried 1 too)[TERRAIN]SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=10[bufferPools]UsePools=0
April 7, 201016 yr after a few minutes I get the sparkling tiny white blocksThe settings (inside FSX) that will have the most 'impact' on the 'white spots' (snow) you get are:Autogen: try to lower 'one notch'.Level of detail radius: (try reducing one notch, whatever value you have)Frames per second (try limiting to a lower value of what you currently have)Test and see which of the above three has the more impact. or.. if you feel like, flying just reduce the above one notch, and pretty sureyou are not going to have more 'snow'*IF* you are not willing to sacrifice any of the above options, then change this: UsePools=1
April 9, 201016 yr Author Thanks for responding. The white spots do go away after a reboot.Everything seems to be ok now as long as I don't use the following settings ...[sCENERY]DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=0 ( tried 1 too)[TERRAIN]SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=10
August 12, 201114 yr Is this topic still active ? My system: P6T de luze v2, I7-960, Memory: 6 Gb, SSD 160Gb, sec HD 1 Tb, ATI Radeon 5870.My FSX.cfg is tuned by Bojote's tweaking tool and I have no further problems with FSX but the framerates ...... In Taskmanager I see the four cpu's and the four threads. All the CPU's are active ( perfect)The four treads are used in a minimal way.My overall processor activity is aprox 40% When I look in the overdrive tab of ATI's CCC then I can see the GPU processor activityMy overall GPU activity is aprox 50% This when turning around, in spot view, at the gate of a very heavy Aerosoft airport like Amsterdam.Or by the take off from seatlle with my iFly 373ngx In this situations my framerate is 10-15fps This is my question:In the situations above I get 10-15 fpsMy CPU and GPU are leaning on there elbows. Why can't I get more frames per secons I my CPU and GPU at 100% Regards Kees
August 12, 201114 yr Have you overclocked the CPU? The ATI 5870? If no, then you need to do it... As you probably know ATI is not the best choice for FSX. I gave some advise over here, have a look: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/343705-switching-from-ati-to-nvidia/page__st__25
August 12, 201114 yr Yes I did overclock my CPU a little bit to 3.3 Ghz. No, i did not overclock my ATI 5870When I do, the screens stay flickering in an annoying way.On the fora there are enough topics to describe that problem. We expect Ati to solve this problem in a future release. But without overclocking there seems to be enough capacity rest by the CPU and GPU to work harder. Why don't they. Can you explain that to me. Thanks,Kees I read your advice about Nvidia
August 12, 201114 yr 3.3 Ghz is not enough if you want good performance in FSX, sorry! Are you sure you read what I posted? http://www.overclock...olor_5870/5.htm - and Nick from Simforums: http://www.simforums...187.html#198187 Use AA 8x box in Catalyst Center, NOT in FSX Set anisotropic to 16x in CCC and set aniso in FSX too Disable morpho and tessalation Catalyst AI: Quality MipMap: Performance Vertical refresh: Always off (you have the Bojote CFG tweak, right? ) AA-Mode: Adaptive Multi Sample Open GL: Don´t use FPS Limiter: Set to 30 FPS Use the following in FSX settings: Aircraft: Untick "Show cockpick tool tips" and "aircraft cash shadow on itself" Scenery Complex: Normal Autogen: Normal Display settings: Cloud draw at default Turn cloud coverage: High Airport vehicles are FPS eaters, turn them down to minimum. Ships, ferries and boats: 25-30% Traffic:6-7% AI Traffic: 30-40%
August 12, 201114 yr Even I have a question , I am using HighMemFix. My Specs are Athlon X3 445 and ATI HD 5450, now this CPU has three core's do I need to setup Affinitymask ? and what value ? I do not know if this CPU has Hyperthreading. Where there are hardly any 3d buildings I get 50-60 FPS like the NL-2000 with everything on MAX but on Manhattan X I get max of 20-23 fps and low's of 15-16. Can anything be done. Should I use bufferpools 0 or 1 ? I have tried the online fsx.cfg fix on bojote's site but I get no gain using it. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
August 12, 201114 yr PFL - ATI 5870 here - many thanks for the settings, never was sure; happy now. Obliged to you.

August 12, 201114 yr You´re welcome guys, glad to help, been there me self with ATI! @ironmaiden: The FPS you get with Manhattan X is fine with your CPU, it´s a heavy hitting addon.. Re. Affinitymask: Try to experiment yourself with 12, 14 and 15 and see what happens. If you don´t see any gain with Bojotes Tweaktool, then you don´t need it!

Okie. when I check the processor usage under task manager during a Flight the first core has a higher graph. The highmemfix works well, I am still experimenting with stuff's from Bojote's. Thanks. August 12, 201114 yr For those with low frames, if your running in windowed mode with forcevsyncinwindowed mode tweak in the fsx.cfg, your framerates will be divided and cut in half.... ******* can explain it better. Eric
August 12, 201114 yr I tried the Affinitymask = 14 the task manager graph shows the 3rd / 2nd core running full and the 1st core running 3/4, hey where is my 1/4 Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
