BAD Experience

On April 11th, I purchased two products form Pilotshop.com, that were published by Aerosoft. Neither of these products, the De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver X download and the De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter, had any download restrictions or compatibility issues posted. The DHC-2 would not install in FlightSim X, coming up with the error message: "Feature Transfer Error Feature: defaultfeatureFile: <USERFLIGHT>Error: The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." (the aircraft was most likely not tested on a 64 bit system?) I installed the Twin Otter and discovered that there is no way to change between an interior view and an exterior spot plane view without first going to a "view menu," and even then, the views available were very limited. I contacted Pilotshop.com, asking that my credit card be credited for the full amount for both aircraft packages. They DID NOT honor any money-back (customer satisfaction) solution but instead "kicked the matter down the road" and referred me to Aerosoft. I contacted Aerosoft the same day and they have not replied. I would not recommend doing business with either of these companies. John Kauffman

I have the Beaver happily running in FSX on Win7 64 bit. I know a lot of people that have it, too.Going from internal to external view with the Twin Otter is as simple as pressing the "A" key on your keyboard. No idea what your problems are, but they are NOT the problems of Pilotshop.com (they do not do support, they are vendors).A posting to the Aerosoft forums would have sparked a couple of replies within an hour. Did you try that?

I'd check your system or your install. I have the Twotter and the Beaver running happily in FSX under XP64 withh no issues at all. Also, I've found Aerosoft to be very responsive to legitimate user issues. I suggest you go to their forum for support.I've not dealt with PilotShop but if they are like most vendors, they refer the support to the manufacturer - a very common practice for many industries.Vic

John, yours is a frustrating story

Hi JohnI also have both these aircraft under Windows 7 64bit and both install and work exactly as they should. Please rather post your issues on the Aerosoft Aircraft Support forum and you will be attended to very quickly. A lot of the Aerosoft staff are on vacation at the moment so their support email system is a bit back logged which is why I suggest the forums. And John, jumping to highly premature conclusions about two well respected companies, or anyone for that matter, is considered bad form on public forums. I understand your frustration (we've all been there and got the T shirt) so just take a big breath and visit the above mentioned forum.

John,I also own both of these aircraft and both install and function perfectly on Windows XP X64. If you have to go the view menu to get external views, your problems are with FSX itself and not the addons. It appears you have other issues that need to be worked out.

I have the Twin Otter and Beaver from Aerosoft and they work brilliantly. I would highly recommend either of these aircraft and aerosoft to anyone.
