Air Force One/Boeing 757?

Featured Replies

Have I overlooked an Air Force One Livery for the Boeing 757 either freeware, or particularly for the early version of Capt. Sim's 757? I am afraid I have not come up with the correct text in my search if there is one available in the library. If someone knows of an original, or repaint link for this bird, it sure would be appreciated.Respectfully:RTH

As far as I know, there is no such aircraft as a B757 Air Force One. However there is a B757 ( C32 ) VIP Transport paint in a near likeness paint scheme. Project Opensky has one available (dead here on AVSIM because of the hack). It is available here: http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php?ap...mp;showfile=563 ,at least you can view the info and verify that that is what you are referring to. I don't know about CS availability, wouldn't mind having that one myself.I hope this helps you out, and if I find the CS version I'll post back.Best regards,Mel

Not freeware but there's a Quality Wings version. As the poster above said, it's not AF1. http://qwsim.com/index.php/home

Actually, Air Force One is the callsign of any USAF aircraft the US president is flying on, and only while he's aboard. The two VC-25 aircraft fly under the 89th Airlift Wing's "SAM" callsign when moving without the president aboard.A VC-32 (B757-200) is regularly used as the presidential backup jet when one of the VC-25s is in maintenance, and has been used in the past as the primary (as well as C-20 Gulfstreams) to fly the president. Because of its size and weight, the 747 can't go everywhere, and sometimes a smaller 89AW aircraft is used.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

If your willing to spend a little money, the QW 757 includes an accurately modeled C32A. It's not just a 757 with a Presidential paint scheme thrown on, but an independent model.Emil

Thanks everybody for the suggestions.Looks like Mel's Project Open Sky recommendation will suit my needs. (http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php?ap...mp;showfile=563 ,)For what it might be worth to anyone, I have also done a few modifications. I have the LDS767 and the early version of the Capt. Sim 757. Many months ago, I replaced the Capt. Sim panel with the LDS panel in order to get the fully working FMC and other provisions in the LDS panel. I am pretty sure I also made slight modifications to the aircraft.cfg as well but this old memory doesn't remember exactly what. What I did for the Posky VIP 757 was as follows.1. Copied my Capt. Sim 757 aircraft.cfg to the Posky bird2. Edited the aircraft.cfg to replace the Capt. Sim Liveries with the original included for the Posky bird.3. Copied my Capt. Sim 757 Air file to the Posky bird, and edited the title text back to that of the Posky ("C32A.air")4. Copied my Capt. Sim 757 panel (Modified LDS767 panel) to the Posky. The only other thing I had to do was to replace the Lighting section in the aircraft.cfg with the original Posky content. These modifications would probably work equally well for any of the Posky 757-200 liveries.Made one hop from KLWB to KORD. As near as I can tell, everything works. Do note the following though. In order to not have strange things happen and get everything to work properly, I startup with a MSFS default aircraft as recommeded by many sources. I then select the LDS767. Only after this progression I then select the Capt. Sim 757, or in this case the Posky 757. For some reason, the LDS767 needs to Precede either of these latter planes or some functions may not respond (i.e. lights, trim, etc.)I also tried this in FSX, but there are glitches (both with the Capt. Sim and Posky). VNAV does not seem to work and has a mind of its own. The TO gauge does not work either. LNAV tracks just fine. Trim also needs to be left alone or it goes into a maximum climb/stall configuration. If you do not touch the trim tab, and can live without VNAV, everything else seems to work, although the flight dynamics are a bit sloppy. There quite possibly is a solution to all of this with a few other modifications and/or tweaks, but I have not worked on the FSX adaptation that far yet.Again, thanks for your suggestions.RTH

Interesting. Didn't know that.

For what it might be worth, there is a USAF livery of the C-37A / Gulfstream V ("c37usafu.zip) in the library. Combined with the gulfst04.zip panel it makes for a fairly decent bird in FS9 if one is not too picky.C-20, C-37A, VC-32, or VC-25?I am curious to see which is used tomorrow when both the President and Vice-President arrive for the Miner's memorial service in Beckley, WV. Unless I am mistaken, the VC-25 is a bit heavy for KBKW (Beckley). They could come in to KCRW (Yeager) in Charleston, but would have to travel the turnpike for 40-50 miles or so which I would think would be unlikely.I also wonder if FlightAware will list the flights, and if so under what clanestine text.Happy flying:RTH

Correction:I believe the memorial service is next Sunday, April 25, 2010, NOT tomorrow.Sorry:RTH

I was about 200 ft. away from the 757 last week in Haiti; It brought in the first lady and Jill Biden for a visit. Quite a nice site and made for some good pictures.
