HI,I am trying to capture the specific requirements Amsterdam Schiphol airport has. With 5 runways it is not possible to use only 1 AFCAD, one needs several depending on the present winds. It also means adjusting the taxiways to cater for some AI traffic. I have added a new taxiway so both arriving and departing aircraft can find their way but unfortunately some trees are in the way. I have looked at the options ADE gives me to exclude areas, but so far I am not successful. I have also tried to define grass on both sides of the taxiway but the trees seem to grow right through them. Would there be an easy way to get rid of the autogen trees? This is for FSX, I am using ADE.Thanks,Menno

I don't understand needing more than one AFCAD for an airport, but to get rid of autogen trees, etc at the added taxiway, you need to include an airport background polygon. Use the Add Polygon tool

Hi Art, thank you for your reply. I shall give it another try. I can add grass etc. but the trees just remain. I am enhancing Ray Smith

If you use the Add Polygon tool and define the polygon as Airport Background-Flatten Mask Class Map ExcludeAutoGen, the area will be grass, flattened to the airport elevation and autogen excluded. It sounds like you may have applied a grass apron with the Add Apron tool, which will not exclude autogen.

Make sure the trees are indeed autogen, also. Background polys will not remove trees if they are placed there by an addon.regards,Joe

If you start from the bgl file then the terrain elements are not included so you have the choice of using the existing _CVX.bgl file that Ray produced or creating your own. Don't use both otherwise you could get some strange ground effects.
Hi Jon. I often have more than one CVX file for an airport someone else has created. If the OP just adds a airport background polygon where he has added a taxiway to someone else's .bgl, I don't think there will be any conflict by having two CVX files (?). I often have to add a polygon to airport .bgls by others. This most often happens where autogen trees or tall buildings block approaches to the runways or vehicle traffic crosses runways/taxiways. I do see how there could be conflicts in certain other situations.I can't tell you enough how important the CVX file creation part of ADE has been to me for making FSX airports right. SBuilder is good, but ADE is so easy and effective.
