April 20, 201016 yr Hi guys,I'm having an FSX AI problemMy AI are working fine except they appear to be leaving a large gap behind me when taxing This gap is clearly too big.I thought it was a radar contact issue but it's happening with default ATC and also at default airports all over.I've posted over at world of AI to see if it's their problem but I cant put my finger on it!Is there a FSX.cfg tweak that controls this etc?RichThought i'd show you the issue in a screenshot with default ATC to see if you could shed any light on the matter
April 20, 201016 yr Author What's causing it is when I make any tiny adjustment be it in speed or direction from the centreline the aircraft behind is told to hold position and then immediately told to continue and then immediately told to hold again....over and over again!I've listened to this on default ATC. Therefore the aircraft never gets close behind me and when I use radar contact I get clearance to line up and wait as I should and the plane behind is frozen as it should until I rotate. It's just that the continuous hold and continue hold and continue means the plane behind cant get close enough before it's frozen by radar contact. Is there anyway I can turn off FSX ATC to stop it interfering?

April 21, 201016 yr Author turn the ms atc volume to 0This doesn't stop the FSX ATC working it merely mutes it so you ant hear it.I still have the problem of planes being a way back therefore radar contact freezes them there with or without sound

April 21, 201016 yr Try turning off crash detection. Just a long shot for test. The safe perimeter is also I believe caused by the aircraft radius in your aircraft.cfg. Is this happening in all models?
April 21, 201016 yr Author yes this is happening in every single model I own.I have uninstalled everything and default FSX with not a single add on is now doing it.What do I need to change in the aircraft.cfg to change the radius? Thanks
April 22, 201016 yr Commercial Member I have uninstalled everything and default FSX with not a single add on is now doing it.are you saying you uninstalled everything BUT fsx, and default fsx is still doing it?oryou uninstalled everything AND fsx, and it's not happening?oryou uninstalled everything BUT fsx, installed your add-ons, and none of your add-ons are doing it?if it is the first, you uninstalled everything but fsx, and the problem still exists, you're going to have to uninstall fsx. there is obviously something amiss, somewhere, and you could spend hours, days, weeks trying to find it. faster to uninstall, and install from scratch.but do the install in stepsfsx, is the problem thereadd-on scenery, is the problem thereadd-on ai, is the problem thereadd-on planes, is the problem there?you may get to this point and everything is working. if that happens, at least you know you have a working fsx install (good time to do a checkpoint save (backup of fsx directories) so you have somewhere to go back to, if this mysteriously re-appears in a week or a month from now.jd JD Read my blog

Including FSX and the default AI are still doing the same!Is this even possible?I'm going to post a screenshot and I need you guys to tell me if its normal or not.Again I must stress it is happening with a complete reinstall with no add ons

April 22, 201016 yr I have the same problem, I never really wrote about it before as it doesn't really bother me as much. Basically what is happening, the AI is being told to hold short way too far away from my a/c. If I'm waiting for departure there's AI behind me but way too far off. Did you try posting a thread in the general FSX discussion forum? Jacek G. Did you try posting a thread in the general FSX discussion forum?I have posted everywhere yes, including in the general FSX forum and I have to say the majority of people are saying that aces did this intentionally after FS9 resulted in lots of rear end collisions. I can safely say FS9 did do that to my frustration. They appear to have just over done it with the gaps. My gaps have decreased with airport vehicle traffic reduction and the gaps really aren't too big now so i'm convinced it's fixed and that i'm just expecting it to behave the same as FS9. But have been told countless times that it's meant to be like that. Anyway it's nice to know I'm not the only one!On with the reinstall then......
April 23, 201016 yr Hi Guys,The screenshot is of EGLL and in the RW the holding points for aircraft proceeding to the runway 27L when aircraft are moving from either direction shown are just about a plane length in advance of what the screenshot depicts. What Aces fell down with is that in that sort of scenario one of the approaching planes to the runway hold would have been allowed to continue ,instead both aproaching streams are held.A touch of overkill perhaps.Norman Bowman Norman Bowman
