EVGA GTX480 Rocks!

Featured Replies

I have the EVGA GTX 480 SC as well and I have to say the card brings a whole new life to FSX and will not disappoint if you have the right hardware to match to it. The difference between the GTX 480 and the GTX 280 that it replaced are like night and day. Gonna have to give 16xS a try. Using the 197.41 WHQL drivers and nHancer 2.5.7 as well.

I've seen some reports of people having problems with XP 64-bit, so need to careful there... don't know why this might be.
Really, what sort of problems have you heard *******,is it trouble with fsx or just the 480 in general on XP 64?

With the current Nvidia GTX 480 driver for XP x64, FSX will ALWAYS BSOD. I tested this between two different PCs. One PC with an existing install of XP x64/FSX and One PC with a clean install of XP x64/FSX with the GTX 480 installed. Results where the same on both computers FSX constantly BSODs. There are others reporting the exact same results. It makes sense in a way, we are talking of a card designed for DX11 and a legacy OS that really wasn't designed for mainstream use. Where do you think Nvidia's development time will go?

Microsoft is done with XP, so no surprises that Nvidia doesn't test it. Upgrade to Win7, it's a superior OS now that ******* fixed the graphical errors of the past

Thanks I found the thread with the xp 64 issues, dam I really don't want to reinstall vista, I just bought XP 64 a few months ago, it was the only way I could run fsx without having the disappearing textures. Then the highmem tweak came out and sorted all that mess out anyways. I don't have a 480 yet but got one on back order, probably be awhile before I get it. But I agree with you I really doubt Nvidia will address any problems there having with XP64, which is a shame because its such a rock solid OS. Oh well I try it first then reinstall vista or get W7. Thanks for the heads up.

2 more weeks and I will be ready to purchase the GTX 480, I can't wait.
