April 28, 201016 yr I just wanted everyone to know that the new EVGA gtx480 works perfectly with Nhancer and FSX. HQ and Extremely dense AG.No more flashes. No more black screens. Using the BP=0 and tweak guide I'm rendering smooth fps and sharp scenes.FPS in some sceneries went up significantly. I can run it in unlimited or locked, it stills shows the right fps. In other words it slows down when it has to and maintains smoothness.I don't even see the pauses that I used to experience with FSDreamteam airports. I'm so glad that I waited for this one. Thanks to everyone for their help. I will now enjoy my sim. MSFS
April 28, 201016 yr I just wanted everyone to know that the new EVGA gtx480 works perfectly with Nhancer and FSX. HQ and Extremely dense AG.I've seen some reports of people having problems with XP 64-bit, so need to careful there... don't know why this might be.
April 28, 201016 yr Author Maybe I should mention that I have Windows 7 64.The answer could be drivers. MSFS
April 28, 201016 yr Hi,That sounds great and I must admit I have an incredible itch to update the video board, but I think I'll wait for the GTX485 later this year. EVEN if you DO use BufferPools, the perfomance is day and night. So, I would say a GTX 480 its more 'miracle tweak' than BP=0 itself ;)

I'm have my menial 8800GTX and can't keep up with you guys who can afford the latest and greatest. Maybe I can put my family up for hock for 30 days and purchase the 480. April 28, 201016 yr Author I will leave my old specs at the bottom for now:As many of you know I have a 1 gig EVGA gtx285 SC. Now I have the EVGA gtx 480 SC.Let me just say that as far as fps go, that was not really a problem. My old card did a great job with fps, it just could not handle the additional load. The gtx480 does give some improvement in certain areas, but in areas like NYC with Manhattan X, KJFK, and KLGA, fps remained in the 20s. Maybe it's smoother. What I can do now is raise the AG from Dense to Extremely Dense and worsen the weather, and experience no artifacts, crashes etc. You can also raise the fps from 25 to 60, even unlimited. At times, with my gtx285, it was amazing. It worked for short flights. But, at airports like Orbx YBBN, despite high fps, I got sudden flashes which caused me to have to restore my system. Thankfully, I have everything backed up.Now I don't have to worry about restoring my system. If you want to increase fps, install the latest drivers, use BP=0 and lower the FFR. If you want the best card for FSX, get a gtx480.I didn't see a reason to wait for a gtx485 when this card gave me the results I wanted. MSFS

April 29, 201016 yr I'm a 480 believer now, too. Installed an eVGA 1492 superclocked, and am seeing close to 30 fps sustained in my KJFK-KLGA test flight where high teens were the standard with a 285GTX, and low 20s with the 5870. And...I bumped AG from Dense to Very Dense and AA from 8xS to 16xS in the tests as well. No flickering anywhere (supersampling in the 5870 killed that also). The card runs warm but not excessively so--it idles at 48 deg C (ambient temp in the room is 17 deg C) and load temp after 30 min in FSX is stable in the low 70s with the fan set manually to 75%. In a 25 deg C (77 deg F) room, temps are going to hit the mid 80s I think. I use a well-ventilated CoolerMaster HAF932 with a 230mm fan mounted in the side of the case blowing right across the video card.Using the 197.41 WHQL drivers, eVGA Precision 1.9.1 and nHancer 2.5.7...they all installed without a hitch and work well with the 480.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
April 29, 201016 yr Author I tried a Vapor X and it just did not cut it for me. Thankfully, I was able to return it.To be able to fly in NYC, at night, with thunderstorms all over the place, in the complex sceneries that rendered a slide show, it's simply enlightening. This my friends is not hype. I always tell it like it is! The gtx 480 is the real deal. MSFS
