All the excitement ends with a crash...

a building crash, that is.Now, I love running Extremely Dense autogen with the 480 its, rock solid, but how good is this if my fav airport has a big building in front of the main runway??? is there any way to 'mod' this without having to reduce autogen? Thanks,EDIT: The airport is SVMI (Maiquetia)

Make an "exlude" for the small area that is giving you trouble.

Hi *******,I have noticed similar problems (Glideslope Shack on a taxiway @ Sitka, AK - PASI; Tower on the Runway @ EGUW). I've used Airport Design Editor with "great success" to "Edit" these anomalies. It's very straight-forward for a novice (airport editor) user such as myself, to move the offending structure to a place where it appears it should be (using Google Earth). It makes a file which after "compiled" can be placed in your Add-On Scenery. Very cool. Also, with all this extra Autogen, Trees can be placed where they never would be IRL on the Approach Paths to Runways up to the Threshold (gives 50' Obstacle a whole new meaning). There's a "Lumberjack program" in the AVSIM Library us MSFS Round-The-World-Racers were made aware of this past Race, that does a superb job of trimming those trees back. Actually there are two Lumberjack files... one does 3x Rwy Width the other 5x Rwy Width. Just search the term "Lumberjack."ToweronRunwayEGUW.jpg

You are refering to ADE right? seen it, but never used it... guess its one of those 'must haves' things that I've missed. oh boy, and having a towerin the middle of a runway, what a way to spoil the fun if you ever need to divert to an airport and find this kind of 'anomalies' you are 'literally' dead :)it reminds me Symfliers protection scheme in FS2004 :)Anyway Ozzie, thaks for your help.Does anyone know what the first poster meant by 'excluding' the autogen? no idea how thats done...

Sorry, you know what happends when we assume...Buildings and other objects like Bridges are excluded by ExclusionRectangles which are compiled with the BglComp SDK compiler. Roads and other vector data are excluded by Vector Exclusions (in Shapefiles), compiled with the Shp2Vec SDK compiler. The two types of exclusions cannot go in the same BGL file. The XML coding for simple exclusions is not that difficult. You can get away with cut-n-paste from the SDK docs with a little editing of lat/lon specifics. If you have any problems post your questions in the FSdeveloper forum and you will get quick help, its really not that hard...you will need the SDK.Hope that helps you

*******, you ever sleeping? It must be something like 1AM or so... :-)

There is a SVMI AFCAD file for FSX in the AVSIM library. It was made by Ray Smith using ADE. I have many AFCAD files from him, and they all have been good. This will also give you proper parking code assignments for the airport.

FYI ADE is good also so is Exclude-builder and SBuilder.

Holas *******,As Ozzie mentions above, Jim Keir took care of this problem a few years ago - just search the Avsim library for "Lumberjack", his series of files covering all the airports in the entire world (!) and removing all trees, and buildings, blocking runways.Saludos.Luis

ADE works well and you could do a (small) airport makeover in a night. It may also include ambient sounds but maybe that is a different product.jja

I just use them as an extra challenge. :D
