Met/Rep download failed

Greetings,When I start ASE it's failing on downloading the Met/Rep. I fired up AS6.5 and it downloaded just fine.Ant idea why this would fail over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and....I think you get my point.

This is getting terrible. I have to wait and wait and wait so I can change from FSX to FS9. *holy molly* why do we put up with this? :( :(

Hi All,We looked at the server logs for the weekend and there were no problems at all.Can you please list you general location so that we can see if there is anything in common here?

JimI had a problem Sunday morning with connecting to the server (fail, fail, fail, etc.). Tried later on in the evening and it worked fine.**Southern Ontario, Canada**Brent

I have this problem as well with ASE, and it only started after I installed the Service Pack.I run ASE on a standalone computer that connects to FSX via WideFS.If I boot the machine, and start ASE (after starting FSX first on my main computer), ASE has no problem making the connection to FSX itself via simconnect - so I know that the network card in the ASE machine is working. However, when it gets to the point of trying to download the current weather from the HiFi servers via the internet, it fails constantly - switching back and forth between the main and secondary servers but never finding either one.BUT, if I minimize ASE, and open Internet Explorer, and navigate to any web site, ASE suddenly seems to wake up. It immediately "finds" the HiFi server, downloads the weather and from that point on, it works fine, even if I close I.E.It's almost as if ASE, on its own, cannot initialize an outgoing connection to the internet, unless another program (Internet Explorer) does it first. It never had this problem until I installed the service update.Jim Barrett

Hi,This is a different issue, but I'll be happy to try and help here.Do you connect to the Internet through a proxy server? Is your firewall/anti-virus allowing ASE access? You might need to re-allow ASE because sometimes an update is seen as a new program and then it gets blocked.

No proxy server. The ASE computer has no AV software whatsoever, and the firewall is completely disabled - in fact, the computer is specifically set up to maximize network throughput, as I don't want anything to hinder the communication stream via simconnect between ASE and FSX. This problem always occurs if I start ASE after the computer initially boots up. ASE can communicate with FSX perfectly, but cannot reach the internet.I've since found that simultaneously opening ANY program that communicates with the external internet on the same machine will suddenly "kick" ASE into life, and make it possible for it to reach the HiFi servers. Web browser, email client, usenet news reader, even the simple text-based, command-line ftp client will do the trick. I've run ASX, ASA, and the original incarnation of ASE on this same computer, and never had the problem - all were able to reach your servers on the first try, and without having to open another TCP/IP-enabled program first.Jim BarrettJim Barrett

Hi,Before using something else to connect to the Internet, run ASE and attach the ASE_Log.txt file.
