May 3, 201016 yr Just wanted to say with the latest SP Contrails Pro adds allot to FS9. The improvements made to the latest version has made this a painless and satisfying add-on to have. May 4, 201016 yr I still have a tough time swallowing $15.00 for some contrails when I can get ones that look just as good for free. Matt L.

May 4, 201016 yr I remember the last time I tried an add-on contrails program it had a heavy FPS hit. jerrycwo4
May 4, 201016 yr Ok, so I was very sceptical of this initially - especially with the early release version which I tried out. However, now that the product is more mature and the bugs have been dealt with (especially the flickering scenery issue), I think it is actually pretty good.cohort / acmech : You say you can get ones that look just as good for free so please tell me where? I have searched long and hard for really good contrails for my AI and I think I have tried all the available options and still when this came along I was happy to pay my $15...The options I know of:- Default 3D : Too short and not visible more than 10nm from the user aircraft- fx_A_I_contrail.fx : Nice and long and the visibility distance is better than the 3D ones, but the effect is flat and always oriented to the ground so you can't see a contrail on the same FL as the user.- REX 3D contrail : By far the best looking contrail (use it for my user aircraft) but again, the visibility range is too darn short. I want to be able to see distant contrails! If there is something I've been missing, I'd love to know about it! My ideal AI contrail would be basically the same the REX 3D one, but it would be a little longer, be visible for AI aircraft up to 30-50 nm and would correctly change colour at sunrise and sunset...Contrails Pro draws the contrails a really long way away (adjustable in GUI) and also the contrail is oriented in such a way that it faces the user (although it is, I think, still a 'flat' effect). The textures do change colour consistently with sunset / sunrise. The join between bits of texture is not perfect but this can be improved by modifying the overall transparency of the contrail effect (in the GUI). Also, the issue of the contrail being drawn 'through' clouds is greatly improved now with the added options in version 1.03.[Edit] I see no FPS loss on my system with the 1.02 or 1.03 versions. With 1.01 the situation was somewhat worse...Cheers,Geoff
