May 3, 201016 yr In the massive view forward thread, someone asked about the 737: 3. Will the doors be controlled using the FMC (like the MD11)So, out of curiosity, which do people like better, the FMC version in the MD-11 or the Ramp Manager approach of the J41? I'm honestly torn. On the one hand, I like the J41, because its an out of cockpit activity and not something the pilot does, so have your "ramp staff" handle it. But, the MD11 has all the other features right there (arming doors, pushback, etc.) which And of course, assuming every one loves the Ramp Manager approach, is there any chance this version gets included in the NGX? Or maybe in other future releases? (Of course, I'm excluding the Queen, since I'm sure either of the two methods are preferred over key strokes, but if anyone wants to defend the honor of keyboard shortcuts, the floor is yours...)Curious if anyone has any strongly held opinions about any of this... With the cargo manager it's no fail, just point and click and get desired results.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 4, 201016 yr fmc....makes me feel like im accessing maintenance pages.....well not really Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
May 4, 201016 yr Via a separate little panel including all the groundconections like electric and air (just like the DA fokker 70/100)
May 4, 201016 yr For a more substantial size aircraft (like the NGX, MD11) I prefer it in an FMC page or seperate "panel". As you start zooming out ot show the whole airplane in the ramp manager and add the number of doors you can click to open (in other words, click spots start getting smaller), I don't think the ramp managaer is a logical a choice. It's great for the JS41 size aircraft though. Eric Szczesniak
