May 28, 201016 yr Author For those of us in Nothern Europe, Blue1 is going to be using 9 of them from this Autumn onwards so we'll be seeing more of them around here... Real shame they're getting rid of their RJ85 aircraft - I really like flying that one :) I agree. Now that Midwest--one of only a few worldwide operators--has retired their entire 717 fleet, there's even less of a reason. Here's hoping, though; I've always fancied flying one on a regular basis. Maybe someone at Leonardo will come to their senses...
May 28, 201016 yr I went throught PayPal and everything seemed to work right up to the point where it asked for the download access codes and there weren't any on the page (or on the email from PayPal). I only thought afterwards that it was odd there was nowhere to enter my email address etc... Anyway, I have sent an email to support at SkySimulations (since they have some connection with Vans) asking if they know how to make contact...Otherwise there are always the slightly less legal routes for getting the package. I would normally not even consider getting an addon via a torrent site but in the end I have already paid for this... But not yet... I'll wait and see what happens over the weekend...GeoffHi Geoff I feel terrible now. recommending this add-on I hope you can sort it out.I think any developer who to takes on the 717 from scratch is taking a real risk.It just wasn't in production long enough, few airlines had it.It really does not seem to be a model a lot of simmers are asking for. I can't see a developer putting in a yearor more development time for a highly detailed realistic version this model. To me it'd make more sense for an existing MD80 developer like Leanardo SH, or Coolsky to upgrade their MD80 modelsand produce a 717 variant.Regards.Ernie.HI Ernie, thats true Boeing ended the 717 program early I honestly think its great plane and its sad that it does not have that many operators thanks to Boeing. for stopping the line. I do not like company merges I wish the Douglas company was still around. I guess you can say it came around the wrong time? that 717 from the project airbus forum looks very promising. May 29, 201016 yr Hi folks, Ever heard of Project Skyworks? they do a good version of the B717-200. I think I think it's a self-installer, Just do a search for Project Skyworks 717-200. "Caution is the elder brother of wisdom"
May 29, 201016 yr ever tried the SGA MD-95 (717)? it doesn't contain a panel, but in my opinion it's still the best 717 model out there (same goes for their DC-9,MD-80 and MD-90'syou can find the base pack as: sga95.zip at flightsim.com
June 1, 201016 yr Author Hi folks, Ever heard of Project Skyworks? they do a good version of the B717-200. I think I think it's a self-installer, Just do a search for Project Skyworks 717-200.Another good model. SGA, JCA, Project Skyworks and even the Vans models are all reasonable (probably in that order of quality) but what is really missing is a decent panel from any of them..!I think the Vans panel has potential in that the placement of the gauges etc is good, but it will take some serious work (and 3rd party gauges) to make it really great ...Geoff
June 1, 201016 yr I've recently scrolled down the AVSIM File Library and the JCA still lacked third party repaints. SGA is the other option if you would like a straightaway flight, and there are some panels over at the File Library. There are also some others on other flight sim websites. Yes, the Vans model looks amazing but it's just too bad it won't work with FSX.Furthermore, don't even think about the Perfect Flight 717-200 X. From all the products they have released, by far only the Fly The Tristar pack is a good one. The others were terrible! I have a fairly blank livery for the JCA and will make my own paintkit if necessary!Geoff

June 2, 201016 yr Author Try merging the Vans VC and 2D panel with the JCA, that makes an excellent merge.Sounds interesting - but how do I do that in FS9... I thought that was an 'FSX only' trick. If you'd care to share a panel.cfg I'd be very interested.. :)Geoff

If you'd care to share a panel.cfg I'd be very interested.. :)GeoffIts Impossible to do that I wish you could but not in fs9. fsx has the ability to use a different vc on the other aircraft but theres a catch it has to be designed in a certain way to make it possible. some of the posky aircraft have the ability to be merged with the default vc in fsx but the model artist has to make it compatible for it to work. so the aircraft would have 2 files one with the vc cabin which is the interior, and then the one of the plane itself. heres how it looks like the default fsx a321 model.[models]normal=Airbus_A321interior=Airbus_A321_interior Cesar Martinez AMD 7800X3D RTX5080 NZXT N7 B650E | G.Skill 32GB DDR5 Samsung 980 Pro 2TB | Crucial MX500 (2×) | Crucial P3 Plus Monitor: Philips Evnia 34M2C6500 QD-OLED
June 3, 201016 yr Author Its Impossible to do that I wish you could but not in fs9....I thought so - that's a shame. The Vans VC isn't great but it's better than nothing - many of the clickspots don't work as they should from the 2D and the bl**dy panel nightlighting is linked to the landing lights :(Geoff[PS. As an update on the situation with Vans, they didn't reply to my emails etc so I aquired a copy of the setup files from a someone in another forum - a bit naughty I know but if Vans want to take my money and not send me the files...]
