Perhaps I am not understanding your question............Alacrity simply shuts down unnecessary "services" so the sim has more computer power available to it.PDF files (regardless of content) can be viewed while flying using this excellent utility:http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...t&Go=SearchHope that helps.

Hi Opa,Put it like this...I find Alacrity a great utility...I want to use in FS9 and still be able to view pdf plates. At this time, when I run Alacrity, if I minimize the active window all I have is a grey screen as all programes are shutdown. Is there a way to access pdf plates on my desktop while running alacrity, Im guessing Id have to configure Alacrity to allow my pdf programe to run also, how does one do this? If the link you provided will allow me to do this then forgive me I will use it upon your reply.Thank you for your reply, Berne

My guess is you have turned on the option "Shutdown/restart Windows Shell/Desktop"Un-check this on the Optimization tab and you should have your Windows interface available on FS minimize.

I use GameBooster which does essentially the same things as Alacrity. I prefer it as the user interface is much easier to use - at least for me.With the PDFKneeboard there is no need to minimize FS to access PDF files anywhere on your system. It can find them wherever they are and can be viewed in a "kneeboard" like setting while you are flying.I have tested PFFKneeboard with GameBooster and it works just fine. No idea if it would work with Alacrity or not.The latest version can be downloaded from the author's site:http://code.google.com/p/fscode/wiki/PDFKneeboardThere is also a version which works in FSX.You can check out GameBooster here:http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.htmlHope that helps.

Hi Opa - I used Alcrity and FS9 Configurator way back when and thought they were both quite handy and it did seem that the sim ran much smoother.Have you noticed a difference while using GameBooster by any chance? I watched the "review" on the webpage and thought the part about the game defrag was amusing as the default windows defrag doesn't do a good job itself.I am a little leery about running a free utility as I do not have an antivirus program running on my FSX computer but look forward to giving it a try, thanks for the link to GameBooster. Best regards,

For me (and I only speak for myself) GameBooster does "seem" to help. Now in all honesty I have not run any benchmark tests and perhaps there is a "wishful thinking" factor involved but FS2004 on my XP system really does seem to run smoother as more computer resources are available to it.

Hey David,Have you had any experience with the "game defrag" portion of gamebooster? If so, did it make any difference? Thanks.

Joe Esposito

I tried it once - took a considerable length of time and I really did not notice any marked difference.I use the Smart Defrag utility from the same company on a regular basis (once a week) and that does the job well for me.
