HiJust bought a new headset today, no TX , but good voice coming back to me on vatsim. To assist, all cables correctly inserted. Direct X installed for FS9. Correct drivers installed. Headset fails to record on XPHOME, Fails to pass Squawxbox calibration test, Fails to raise indications on volume bar in the XP microphone checker. This is the second headset Ive tried ....both seem to have bad microphones...?? does not seem right? Realtex HD Audio Manager seems to indicate cables are correctly inserted....all MP3 tracks play good. What am I neglecting here ....all good advice welcome. Berne

Hi,Yes Im using SBox, and No the playback is silent, now what settings do I check in control panel? Also under Hardware on the Sbox Mic Calibartion page what setting should I have for Input and Output device? AND...with sound recorder I get a popup message stating an audio recording device cannot be found, and I uninstalled the existing Sbox and put in Sbox4, but the loading is being stopped with ' An error occurred installing... ( 3 ) is shown... and end of story? Berne

Hi bic,Get a $30.00 cooler with a good heatsink, that will give you better results Im sure. Its not so much the fan ( though that is part of the cooling process ) its more the heavy heatsink which will absord the heat generated by your super CPU. Good Luck, Berne

Hi Mark,Im new too but there is such a thing as 'Overkill' meaning there is a point at which FS9 or FSX will be maxed out and anything extra is needless. As far a frame rates if your getting 20+ thats great, now if you wish to go deeper on the subject , there will be someone around shortly. Berne

Hi,Using Windows 7 Ult. Please list numbered steps to troubleshoot why my headset is not letting me TX to ATC on Vatsim? To assist, I am hearing ATC and MP3 files. I have a lot of ' Currently Unavailable ' listings on my devices in the playback devices window? In Device manager I have two listings under Audio Controllers....1 High Definition Audio Device and 2 My PCI addon SoundCard...should I disable the High Def if I want my soundcard to control all sound in and out? The headset is new a few weeks, but I doubt the cable jack has word sufficiently enough to fray any internal wires ( which happens with most headsets after a few months ) and I have the correct cable to soundcard connections secured and in proper ports? So step by step would be best and I can reply to focus at each stage to aid a quick solution. When time permits, Berne

Hi,Well at times the FMC will give you a choice of three VOR's and choosing the correct one is paramount as you will know. A quick access database would solve that . Thanks for the reply, Berne

Hi,When I finish my flightplan and view it in the progress window FS9 is including too many VORS way off the route, obviously something going wrong here . How do I reset that flight planning feature to default again?Berne :(

Yes Spin737 many times I have found that the AT is not usable on txi out or dep again though It could be my inappropriate use of the engine generators, Ill double check if ON after lighting up, txi, dep ect and make a note to reply.Berne

Hi,Recently a lot of my approaches have not been as they should be, and I have narrowed it down to the Auto Throttle not being activated and having to juggle throttle manually on approach ( a bad scenario ). Could I have just a few points on correct panel settings which will ensure activation of Auto Throttle please for the -800. I know the APP must be selected on left side of panel and then at approach LOC/APP with correct freq selected for arrival rw , and then APP for the glideslope, but speed is imperative so all good advice to ensure A/T speed control activated welcome....I do try to activate AT but it toggles back to the off position?Berne :(

Hi All,If anyone has a few tips for the correct -800 settings from BASAL int to MAP point it would make intersting reading for me.In particular, can I tune two references for the VCV vor namely the 055 on one display and the 001 or 352 radials on another?The explanation I got from LAATCC website is for cockpits with two analogue VOR clocks I think,. Hi,Im using FS9 in the 800. What system settings should I use to get the best climb set to FL340?I was trying level change but that sometimes can lead to erroneous rates of climb?I set rate of climb to about 2000 perminute, that works fine until reaching around FL280 thenthe airspeed bleeds down too much, and at 150 or lower well its just not safe and I find Im havingto disconnect autopilot and fly manually with a VERY slow rate of climb to reach FL340 or higher?As PMDG is a first class software set Im thinking perhaps my method is flawed, and Id be greatfulif you see obvious errors in my method and if so please reply.Regards,Berne
