August 19, 201015 yr Hi Bill,Not a problem! That is correct about SimConnect. You would not need to change a thing.Depending on what features you are using in FSUIPC, you might leave them the way they are, or you might need to adjust them a bit.
August 26, 201015 yr Jim,I have installed ASE through Simconnect without any problems. There are a couple of things I need to clean up.Every couple of minutes I get a message across my FSX screen stating that "XXX stations have been updated". How do I stop that message or is it something I will need to live with? Bill Bridges I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
September 1, 201015 yr Hi,In ASE on the General Options Tab, turn off Show in-sim text messages.Jim,Now to get ASE set up correctly. I did a flight from VHHH-EGLL today. The winds aloft in ASE were not matching the winds aloft in FSX (PMDG B747-400X). Since the winds did not match, I restarted ASE and the winds in FSX matched the winds in ASE. When I started my descent in EGLL the winds aloft were not matching again. I did not restart ASE to see if that would make any descent because of time restraints associated with the landing. Where do we start to get the winds to match up?Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
September 2, 201015 yr Hi,Is FSUIPC installed in FS? Is it set to default settings and weather settings Off?
September 2, 201015 yr Hi,Is FSUIPC installed in FS? Is it set to default settings and weather settings Off?I have a registered copy of FSUIPC. On the "About" page there are three boxes, "Normal Defaults", "Weather Settings Off", and "Clear All Weather."Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
September 2, 201015 yr Hi,Is FSUIPC installed in FS? Is it set to default settings and weather settings Off?Jim,Along the same lines, what settings do you recommend for FSUIPC, ASE, and FSX? I read the previous thread about destination and enroute weather, but never got what I considered a definitive answer.Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
September 2, 201015 yr Hi,Those 3 boxes are always present in FSUIPC.Start FSX/FSUIPC, click on the Normal Defaults button, and click on the Weather Settings Off button. You can do this just once forever.Default settings in FSUIPC, FSX settings as described in the ASE manual, and default settings in ASE is a good place to start.
September 7, 201015 yr Hi,Those 3 boxes are always present in FSUIPC.Start FSX/FSUIPC, click on the Normal Defaults button, and click on the Weather Settings Off button. You can do this just once forever.Default settings in FSUIPC, FSX settings as described in the ASE manual, and default settings in ASE is a good place to start.Jim,I have done as you have asked with FSUIPC and read the manual. I have made the manual recommended changes to use PMDG aircraft. I have started FSX at my startup location (KDFW NE Cargo ramp)which per ASE is one mile from KDFW. My default weather is the "clear skies" (clear, 56F/ wind calm, 29.92) which is saved and "User-defined weather" is checked along with "All weather stations". The weather per the ASE metar is KDFW 062253Z 16013KT 10SM SCT060 34/19 A2982. The weather reported in FSX Current conditions is Wind 198/19 Vis 50sm scattered clouds, Temp 85F/61F Alt. 29.85. On the advanced weather screen it shows KDFW 256@7, 75F/52F 29.87. The other airports around KDFW (KADS, KAFW, KDAL)appear to be fairly close. To get the weather to update I can go into advanced weather and check "Stations that you have not set" and the weather will update. The next problem is the loss of winds aloft (0/0) on descent into KDFW. Today I was NE on BYP on the arrival descending from FL300 to 110 when the winds started to diminish and eventually stopped. To correct this again I went into FSX weather and checked "Stations that you have not set" and the winds started again. This was a trip from KBOS to KDFW and this was the first time this happened on this trip. It is not unusual for the winds to stop of climb out from KDFW especially going east. ASE was showing winds at the altitudes I was passing.Jim, so far I am having the same problems with ASE that I had with ASX. Hopefully we can have better luck this time around. :).Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
September 7, 201015 yr Hi,You need to not go into any weather screens in FSX at all. Don't look there for conditions because we know the data does not show up there properly most of the time. You can only look in the plane and compare with AS, including the Shift/Z data read-out in FSX.So at this point is FSUIPC default or have you made settings changes there? In ASE is DWC On or Off?

September 9, 201015 yr Hi,No with DWC off you are leaving things up to FSX for wind control.Jim,I have changed DWC to Yes. Now the winds are not changing. I departed KDFW (Metar 170@18G24). FSX was showing 168@22 (Close enough). I make the 40 minute flight to KOKC at 100 and the winds never change from the 168@18G24. The KOKC weather was 100@21G26. The winds shown on my FMC and Ctrl-Z reflected the 168@18G24. After I landed I opened the Weather page in FSX and it was showing the 096@21G26. When I closed the FSX weather page the winds updated. I have made two flights today and experienced the same problem. What's next? :).Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
September 9, 201015 yr Hi,Is Force Destination Weather On or Off in AS?Force Destination Weather is OFF.How does the destination weather effect my departure weather? On the flight above and one to KORD at FL350, the winds never changed from the KDFW surface winds.Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
