Jim,I am using B614 with out any operating problems. The departure wind problem still exists.Using ISG panel and PMDG B747 the Shift-Z and winds in MAP/FMC always agree. I still get the departure winds for a very short period of time(3-4 times an hour for about a minute). For PMDG MD-11 the Shift-Z and winds in MAP/FMC agree most of the time except when Shift-Z reverts to departure winds (MAP/FMC winds don't revert to departure winds). Today it was 146/05.Bill Bridges

Hi,What happens if you use a default plane with a default panel?
I tried a short flight from KDFW to KMEM in the default B747 at FL330. The departure winds did not change until leaving 6000 msl. The winds aloft enroute were ok with no departure winds that I noticed, but were slow to update. The winds stayed at 307@30 from FL330 until 2500 msl landing in KMEM. To me the winds were slower to react in the default mod than with ISG or PMDG panels.Bill

Jim,I tried EGLL-VHHH today using PMDG B747 (I have made all adjustments per manuel) and had to discontinue the flight. On departure the winds in Z were 138@09 ASE/FMC had winds at 208@07. Just prior to T/O the Z winds agreed with ASE/FMC. Shortly after departure they changed again to 138@09 with ASE/FMC at 208@23. Approximately 5 minutes into the flight the Z and ASE/FMC winds agreed. At no time did ASE/FMC disagree. AT FL300 FMC winds at 208@27, Z goes to 257@39 and aircraft starts hard S turns over about a 3 minute period. Ten minutes later FMC/ASE winds 219@17 and Z at 255@22, hard S turns again. This process continued about every ten to fifteen minutes for the next hour when I discontinued the flight. An interesting observation - When I would look at the Weather page in FSX menu, the winds there agreed with ASE and Z would go back to agreeing with ASE/FMC when I exited the menu. Things were good for a while, but it appears I will need to go back to FSUIPC for wind control if we can't correct. )-:.Bill

Hi Bill,Watch the HiFi site for our next Beta Build, which may help in this area. The team has been looking into this issue. Expected release is tonight or Friday.

Jim,The new beta was not available when I tried another flight from KDFW to KJFK in the PMDG B747 this morning. Same issues with the departure winds, but no hard S-turns today. About an hour into the flight the departure winds 184@8 showed in Shift-Z (about 5 minutes) and would not return to the ASE/MAP/FMC winds. I opend the Weather Menu in the FSX main menu and it had the same winds as ASE/MAP/FMC. I closed the window and the Shift-Z winds returned to the ASE/MAP/FMC winds. I find it very interesting that the FSX weather menu and Shift-Z do not always agree, and Shift-Z will correct itself by opening/closing the FSX Weather Menu. :-).Bill

Hi,We are waiting on a bit more feed-back before public release.

Hi,We are waiting on a bit more feed-back before public release.
Jim,I just finished KJFK-KDFW in the PMDG B744 with Update 622. This was a good test going west with a 250 heading and 200/99 winds. The new update had some issues for me.1. The departure winds showed after about 10 minutes. I went to the FSX weather screen and they were cleared and did not show up again.2. As the winds change, the change in ASE/FSX is abrupt as opposed to the smooth transition with FSUIPC. This abrupt wind change caused the B744 ot come off the step, and it was difficult to get it back to the assigned cruise speed because of weight and power.3. There were a couple of hard S turns for the first part of the flight, then things seemed to settle down. 4. On arrival at KDFW RWY35C winds were ok until after I landed. As I exited the RWY and was taxing to the gate, the winds in Shift-Z showed 191/73 as opposed to FMC at 010/22. As I have now discovered, what the FMC says doesn't count, FSX is operating off Shift-Z.I am tempted to go back to FSUIPC for wind smoothing, especially with the B744. What update do I need to use since 622 is basicly unworkable for me??Bill

Hi,You need to uninstall ASE and go back to your base version and then update as you wish.

Jim,I am a bit confused by your comments. Do you mean go back to ASX or back to FSX base weather? It seems that I have put forth a lot of effort in an attempt to get ASE to work correctly. I have followed all the suggestions that you have offered. Now it appears that instead of trying to continue to work through these problem you have given up on me. This is extremely disturbing and disappointing. Graace and Peace,Bill Bridges

Hi,Your base version means the first ASE version you used. That is the one that you downloaded from the HiFi store. Then you update that to the best ASE Build that you found worked best for you.Just because you were confused by my brief post doesn't mean that I have given up. You asked how to go back to the update that worked best for you and I explained how to do that. I guess insted of "base" I should have said "beginning".

I tried 622 last night on a short flight from KJAN to KDFW at FL320. I changed Depection Mode from Standard to Direct Weather Control. For most of the one hour flight the winds aloft showed the KJAN surface departure winds. At times when looking at ASE and FSX (shift-z) I could not tell where FSX was getting it's wind data???????I am going to give ASE one more chance tonight with Depection Mode set to Standard and go back to my registered version of FSUIPC (basicly ASX).If I uninstall ASE using Windows, will this effect any of my Simconnect files that I use for ASX and Vatsim? Thanks,Bill Bridges

Hi,No, your SimConnect and FSX setup will not be touched if you uninstall.

I have not reinstalled ASE, but continue to experiment with 622. I made a couple of changes with interesting results. 1. I went back to FSUIPC (reg) to control the winds.2. I went to Standard depection mode.3. I unchecked Force High Prioirity Processing. The results were interesting on a flight from KDFW t KTUL at FL330 in the PMDG B744. The winds, clouds and temperatures all worked correctly. The only problem was a big hit in frame rates from time to time. The fps would go from 29-30 to 6-10 fps for about 10-15 seconds then back to 29-30 fos. I have never had fps problems so I don't know.Bill Bridges
