I keep losing the copilots voice.

Featured Replies

I have a strange problem with the audio. I lose the copilots voice after 30 minutes or so of flying. The copilot continues to perform actions though, such as wipers and such but I can no longer hear him. All the other sounds work ok. I am thinking a hardware issue? Gigabyte GA965p s3 MB with onboard audio Realtek ALC883. I have updated the drivers with the newest version with no change. Updated the bios also, no change.I use a USB mic and headset along with the onboard audio and have tried selecting either one but once I lose the copilot, it doesnt matter which device I select.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,I haven't had that reported before, so it's a tough one.It could hardware related, a problem with your audio. The only 'procedural' thing I can think of is your hit the HS (Headset button) on the FS2Crew Main panel without having the USB headset selected in the FS2Crew Config Panel.Does this happen every time at exactly 30 minutes?Try timing it.Cheers,

Thanks for the quick reply.I will try to time it and see.I set the config for USB and HS and do not touch it after that, I usually close the config box once the countdown goes to 0. Another symptom I found. At about the time I lose the copilots voice, if I click outside of FSX (I run in windows mode) and shift focus away from FSX, I hear a buzzing sound from the speakers. If I click back on FSX the buzzing goes away. This does not happen right away, takes about 30 minutes of flight time. I have isolated it to the engine sound in the sound config in fsx. If I uncheck the engine sound, the buzzing goes away. Hows that for strange. Tested directx sound via the dxdiag with no errors.

That's a needle in a haystack that one.Try deleting your FSX.cfg. It will auto re-build when you re-load FSX.Perhaps that'll shake something up.

Thanks for the suggestion but I got the same error.I then tried to route everything thru my usb headset and I made it thru a whole flight without losing my cp. :( I'll keep trying to isolate it. On a side note, is there anything in the works to interface with Radar Contact 4?

Multi Crew Experience handles RC4 via voice extremely well and it works fine with FSCrew, you just have to configure the same joystick button in both products for Talk (MCE) and Hard Mute (FS2Crew).Steve

Great tip, thanksBryan, quick questionWhy does the copilot pronounce nine the non aviation way, shouldnt it be niner? Also, I seem to be going backwards, just had a CTD on final approach. I know the problem is with my computer somewhere. When it works, your program is great. I will keep trying to isolate it. I have a number of things to try yet. Thanks
