July 29, 201015 yr ...just DC10-30's or have a few DC10-10's made the change as well? Flightdeck wise, are there many differences between the MD-10 and MD-11? I'd imagine that some systems, for example the fuel system, couldn't be as automated as the MD-11 without major hardware changes. Any FEDEX pilots here to enlighten me? July 29, 201015 yr MD10s can be from DC-10-10s or DC-10-30s. The cockpit is very similar to the MD11 and i think there are a few different systems. Dylan Leonard
July 30, 201015 yr The air system isnt automated on the MD10. Most other systems are, including fuel. Also, the MD10 start switches are on the overhead panel, as opposed to on the throttle quadrant on the MD11. Allan Burek
August 2, 201015 yr Well, actually they come from both. Not sure about the DC-10-40 though, but the BCF conversion should work with all variants of the DC-10. I wonder if the 747 Classics family will follow suit...Having a 747-200F with a 747-400 cockpit sounds like a great idea!Dave Gregory "It goes without saying that when survival is threatened, struggles erupt between peoples, and unfortunate wars between nations result." -HIDEKI TOJO
August 2, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the replies. So there's not a specific MD-10 model as such, more of an overall mod package for your trusty old DC-10?Cheers, Chris D I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?

But since most are stored or scrapped there is no point in upgrading the cockpits even more. Fuel and maint costs too high

Not sure though. Dont quote me.Cameron Negrete
August 2, 201015 yr Cameron,Unfortunately not, it still has its original cockpit - bar it seems, the tape-style engine display.Must be incredibly cool to see it in action, in person.Matthew

It was the replacement for the analog tape gauges as they were required to be replaced. Atlas still has them, and Polar had a few on their -200s. Allan Burek
August 12, 201015 yr Northwest Cargo had all glass tape displays on their -200Fs. Such beautiful airplanes, I even loved their old style paint! Too bad they are not flying anymore. And too bad Ready for Pushback never made a true fsx addon
August 13, 201015 yr Commercial Member I would love to see (just to pretend, even if there are systems differences) an option to remove the winglets on the -11 like the 744 domestic version and call it an MD-10 in FS.
