Why is it taking me hours to figure out how to get Pro Flight Emulator working?

Featured Replies

The manual is not very clear as to how I can get this program working. I've spent the last few hours trying to figure out how this thing works but to no avail.I open the emulator. I select FS9/FSX FPlan Converter, I select the right source and destination folders for converting FSX flight plans. Then what? When I press close, the "Connect to FS" is greyed out. When I open Pro Flight 2000 and select a flight, what do I do next? Thanks in advance for any assistance. I am eager to get this baby working so I can get back in the air again.

Most likely you need to have FSX already running to connect to it. So try to start FSX, position your aircraft at the origin airport, then see if the connect button is available.

Thanks

Have you tried their support forum. You need to compile and load your flight plan before you can connect.Easy steps here.1. Make your flight plan 2. Convert the plan with the plan converter.3. After converting the plan click the little blue button that says click here to start PF20004.Select your flight , flight level, AC specs and I strongly suggest changing the FPM settings for climb and descent to 2500fpm so you dont get last minute descent instructions and have to nosedive to the runway.5. After it is compiled exit the compile screen and close the conversion box and you should be back to your original window where you want to connect.6. Load the flight you compiled. then you should be able to connect to FSX if its running.A little tedious at first but after a few times you can do it with your eyes closed. One other thing I do here cause I run on a slower machine is I set the PF-Emulator in task manager to above normal priority so I get a faster response time due to AI traffic and whatnot.Hope this helps you.

Thanks all for the replies. For some reason, the "compile" button on PF2000 is greyed out. When I open PF2000, I select a flight plan from the PFE pilots folder (converted plan, but not adjusted) and then I select my cruise speed. What else do I *have* to select so that the compile button is clickable? Thanks again.

Did you place a cruise altitude in the appropriate box? You might want to check the PFE forum. Dave March is the developer and he is very helpful in sorting out problems. http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/forums/viewfo...73665e18f3fa94c

Hello all,I am finally able to connect to get PFE to connect PFE, which is great. But once I am in FSX and press the ATC tab, it is still the default FSX ATC. I don't see anything new or don't know how to access the PFE ATC within FSX. I looked at the toolbar tabs and there's nothing there. When I press on ATIS on the default ATC, I hear the PFE audio. However, the other options are MS default ATC. Is there a different key I have to press to access the PFE ATC?I was able to get help from the PFE forum and have been able to get this far, thought I would get a faster response for this minor issue from here. Thanks all.

Really no offense here, Hirgab, but judging from your questions, you should really, really read the manual included with PFE.Nobody says that it has the best way of transporting the vast amount of information needed to run the program but it surely includes everything you need to know, uses pictures to explain and takes you to chapters that go into detail if you like to.You have a quite emotional approach on this (and I suspect not only on this) software which is good, you will like it, if it runs.Wondering why "connect" is greyed out without ever compiling a flight plan or (after the good explanation given by Daveo) looking for the default ATC window to read something from PFE shows us, that you've read everthing, except the manual. There's also no need to get upset thread titles running in either AVSIM or the PFE area, because a short overview of that manual will guide you through the initial steps and if problems arise, there's the PFE forum just holding the answers ready for you and everyone because most questions have already been asked and answered.I think that a cry for help is always answered in the forums but a be aware that the question of yours in the thread title might lead to answers you don't want to read :( The keys are all explained in the manual and of course you'll get a different ATC window with PFE now. Try pressing the "0" key and see for yourself. And don't forget to read those pdf files coming with PFE.
